Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
Deep in color, it has a gorgeous bouquet of black fruit, potpourri, graphite and melted tar. There is warmth here, but it does not impede upon the articulation of its origins in Pauillac. The palate has clearly melted in recent years, and maintains superb balance and weight. Sure, as Robert Parker himself remarked, it is evolving at a glacial pace—slower than the 1998 tasted alongside. That means its pleasure is going to be prolonged over many, many years.

Colorful and slightly evolved. Nose both animal, intense, fruity and powerful. Superb freshness. Very beautiful taste. Melting and caressing body. Very aromatic. Fine and delicious tannins. Lots of pleasure and no angles on the palate. Bravo. An impeccable bottle brought by the owner during a dinner at Vinexpo 2005.

Big and sweet and round - seems fuller, richer and a bit older and dustier than the 1989 served alongside. Very long and powerful. Wonderfully rich and opulent. Sweet and perhaps a little bit simpler than the 1989 - though it would work better than the 1989 with richer food.

Château Grand Puy Lacoste
Château Grand Puy Lacoste

Château Grand-Puy Lacoste is a Bordeaux wine estate. Classified as a Fifth Growth in the 1855 Médoc classification, the Château has no less than hectares of vines.

The château also produces a second wine: Lacoste-Borie. It is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and of course Merlot grape varieties.

The outstanding years of Château Grand-Puy Lacoste are undoubtedly 1947, the 1949 wines, the vintages 1959, 1970, and 1982. Finally, the vintages 1986, 1990, the 1994 wines and 2009 grand crus are excellent.
