The 1995 Cheval Blanc blend is made of 53% Cabernet Franc and 47% Merlot. It is a classified growth rich in aromas of red fruits. A few notes of coffee, mocha and caramel add to this aromatic bouquet. A remarkably harmonious wine to enjoy now or leave to age for several decades in the cellar.

Falstaff January - 2003
Falstaff
Rich ruby red; some blackcurrants, very compact; salty and long on the palate, very solidly structured.

Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
This is a hard style of Cheval Blanc. The nose is there, but on the palate, the wine exerts a certain toughness on the palate that some tasters might like more than others. That is just not something I seek in Cheval Blanc. If this sounds like your type of wine, you can pop a cork on it today, or age it a few more years

Rich and mellow. Delicate texture. Very flattering and subtle. A very, very good 1995. Long, sweet, and spicy. A very sweet touch.

Jane Anson - Inside Bordeaux
This year, at a private dinner, this glass was part of an exceptional wine selection, and I almost realized I was drinking it. Notes of black truffle, white truffle, redcurrant, and raspberry follow one another, punctuated by hints of lemongrass and pomegranate that punctuate the rich texture with touches of freshness. Present tannins offer a particular sweetness at this stage, and yet, we know this wine still has decades to go. A hot, dry year produced a satisfactory yield of just under 45 hl/h. 84% of this wine's production, harvested September 15-28 (equaling 1989 and 1990 in terms of early harvests over the past 50 years). Underestimated by most critics upon its release, this wine still shows promise.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
Tasted at the Cheval Blanc dinner at the Ledbury. This is a Cheval Blanc of outrageous decadence. The nose is a succession of exuberant red fruit notes: raspberries, crushed strawberries, smooth and generous new oak, and a touch of vanilla bean. I would call it a "slut" in the hands of a less prestigious estate. The palate is full, with sumptuous red fruit, for now dominated by Merlot, with a sexy and lascivious finish. The word that comes to mind is: orgiastic. I wonder if it will achieve the same elegance as the '85 vintage.

Château Cheval Blanc
Château Cheval Blanc

Château Cheval Blanc is one of the most iconic estates of the Saint-Émilion appellation, on the right bank of Bordeaux. Classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé A, it holds a singular place in the history of the Bordeaux vineyard, both for the exceptional consistency of its quality and for the uniqueness of its terroir and grape varieties. Located at the natural border between Saint-Émilion and Pomerol, the estate benefits from a rare mosaic of soils in Bordeaux, combining gravel, clay and sand.

The vineyard of Château Cheval Blanc extends over approximately 39 hectares, divided into numerous distinct parcels, each vinified separately in order to preserve the expression of its terroir. The grape variety, dominated by Cabernet Franc, complemented by Merlot and a small proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon, constitutes an exception in Saint-Émilion and gives the wines a slender structure, natural freshness and remarkable aging potential.

The estate's philosophy is based on extremely precise parcel viticulture, controlled yields and vinifications conducted with rigor and restraint. The aging process accompanies the wine without ever masking the purity of the fruit or the complexity of the terroir. The wines of Château Cheval Blanc are distinguished by their rare balance between intensity, finesse and aromatic depth.

Among the iconic vintages are notably Château Cheval Blanc 1947, Château Cheval Blanc 1949, Château Cheval Blanc 1955, Château Cheval Blanc 1982, Château Cheval Blanc 1990, Château Cheval Blanc 1998, Château Cheval Blanc 1989, Château Cheval Blanc 2000, Château Cheval Blanc 2005, Château Cheval Blanc 2010, regularly praised for their longevity and elegance.
