Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
The 1995 St.-Joseph Les Granites (made from the same 80-year old parcel of vines as the 1996) is rich and full-bodied, with loads of glycerin, and a distinct minerality combined with the apricotpeach-like fruit. It is a gloriously dense, powerful, yet elegant white St.-Joseph that, along with the 1996, should age for 10-15 years. Both the 1995 and 1996 St.-Josephs are reference pointbreakthrough wines that establish a new level of quality for this appellation. Both wines are totally barrique-aged, of which one-third is new oak.

M. Chapoutier
M. Chapoutier
Since 1808, the Chapoutier name has existed in the Rhone Valley. The distant ancestor Polydor Chapoutier was the first to start buying vineyards, thus moving from being a winemaker of an estate to becoming a winegrower, wine producer and merchant. The pioneering spirit was already inscribed in the family. Since 1990, Michel, in his forties, has been at the head of an exceptional vineyard. A land rich in history and traditions. Passionate about the expression of soils, Michel gives his convictions the means to flourish. Breaking choices, to succeed in synthesizing the past with his own audacity. History of time. As it goes for each element of nature. Time and earth. The roots, the vine and the fruit. From there was born all the richness and generosity of Maison M. Chapoutier.
