Cellar Tracker March - 2024
Cellar Tracker
A stunning wine that showed no signs of fading over several hours, with abundant cassis, pencil lead, tobacco leaf and black cherry flavors. Classy and smooth, toeing the line between power and finesse.

Supple yet strong willed, this is mature enough for drinking now, with chocolate, cherry, violet, vanilla and raspberry notes.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
A deep garnet core with tawny rim. The bouquet displays good intensity, cohesive, earthy, leathery but well defined and gaining potency. The palate is medium-bodied with some attractive decayed black cedar-infused leafy fruit with tobacco and a touch of graphite. Good persistency towards the slightly bitter finish with touches of soy and pain grille.

Jeannie Cho Lee May - 2016
Jeannie Cho Lee
A mature Mouton that should have been consumed at least 5 years ago. The palate is dried out with roasted herbs, leather and mushroom notes while the tannins are astringent and starting to overtake the fruit.

Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
Much better on the tobacco, cedar, cigar box, forest floor, leaf, spice and cherry pipe tobacco nose, than on the medium bodied, sightly green, bright, tart and sweet, cherry/cranberry, dusty palate. This is not a wine to hold for further development.

Château Mouton Rothschild
Château Mouton Rothschild

Château Mouton Rothschild is one of the most iconic wine estates in the world. Located in the Pauillac appellation, it is the only growth in the official 1855 Bordeaux classification to have been elevated to the rank of Premier Cru Classé in 1973, having initially been classified as a Second Growth.

Acquired in 1853 by Nathaniel de Rothschild, the estate then known as Brane-Mouton became Château Mouton Rothschild and entered into legend under the impetus of Baron Philippe de Rothschild. A visionary, he profoundly modernized the vineyard, developed the cellars and imposed absolute quality standards, making Mouton one of the greatest wines of Bordeaux. His motto illustrates this unique ascent: "Premier je suis, second je fus, Mouton ne change" (First I am, second I was, Mouton does not change).

The uniqueness of Mouton Rothschild is also expressed through its artistic labels, illustrated each year by great contemporary artists, reinforcing its cultural and heritage aura. This quest for excellence is also found in the other properties of the Rothschild family, notably Château Clerc Milon and Château d'Armailhac.

Among the most iconic vintages of Château Mouton Rothschild are:

Château Mouton Rothschild 1945, Château Mouton Rothschild 1946, Château Mouton Rothschild 1947, Château Mouton Rothschild 1982, Château Mouton Rothschild 1986, Château Mouton Rothschild 1989, Château Mouton Rothschild 1993, Château Mouton Rothschild 1995, Château Mouton Rothschild 1996, Château Mouton Rothschild 2000, Château Mouton Rothschild 2005
