Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
This is not a bad ’76 although nowhere near the pedigree of Lafite. Mahogany core with deep brick rim. The nose is actually better than I anticipated with some dusty black fruits, cedar a touch of game, but it certainly lacks vigour and cohesion. The palate is a little tawdry, slightly hollow with an cooked character that jars against some obvious green berries that found themselves fermenting. Linear towards the dry finish, moderate length. Not bad, but really only for those born in this year.

Dark red color. Good intensity. Evolution on the rim. Nose of medium intensity. Discreet. Evolved bouquet. Note of dead leaf and blackcurrant. On swirling, a touch of prune. Smoky. Ripe. Interesting. Cedar. Clean and soft attack developing on a tender structure with a taste of very ripe fruits. The body remains medium and the tannic evolution offers a slightly drying and "curdled" grain. The wine lacks fat on the finish, even if it dries less than 1977.

Château Mouton Rothschild
Château Mouton Rothschild

Château Mouton Rothschild is one of the most iconic wine estates in the world. Located in the Pauillac appellation, it is the only wine from the official 1855 Bordeaux classification to have been elevated to the rank of Premier Cru Classé in 1973, after having been initially classified as Second Cru.

Acquired in 1853 by Nathaniel de Rothschild, the estate then named Brane-Mouton became Château Mouton Rothschild and entered into legend under the impetus of Baron Philippe de Rothschild. A visionary, he profoundly modernized the vineyard, developed the cellars and imposed absolute quality standards, making Mouton one of the greatest wines of Bordeaux. His motto illustrates this unique ascension: "Premier je suis, second je fus, Mouton ne change".

The singularity of Mouton Rothschild is also expressed through its artistic labels, illustrated each year by renowned contemporary artists, reinforcing its cultural and heritage aura. This quest for excellence is also found in the other properties of the Rothschild family, notably Château Clerc Milon and Château d'Armailhac.

Among the most iconic vintages of Château Mouton Rothschild are:
