Ruby red color. Purple. Young. Good intensity. Very bright. Beautiful. Clean nose. Intense. Woody, toasted nuances with a hint of leather. Rather complex. On swirling very clean. Very intense. Fruity, spicy, woody and slightly animal. Beautiful supple attack. Develops on a round structure, remarkably balanced and flavorful, rather substantial for the vintage. Evolution on very pure fruity flavors towards a finish where the body drops off a little. Good aromatic persistence without the complexity of other great vintages. A successful 87 Médoc.

Château Léoville Las Cases is one of the most iconic estates in the Saint-Julien appellation, renowned for the precision, depth, and longevity of its wines. Classified as a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé in 1855, it has distinguished itself for over a century through an uncompromising level of quality and consistency that places it at the very top of the Médoc hierarchy.

Originating from the former Léoville estate, the Château Léoville Las Cases vineyard is today protected by a historic walled enclosure — a rare distinction in Bordeaux — ensuring a strong parcel-specific identity. Located directly on the banks of the Gironde, facing the great terroirs of Pauillac, the estate benefits from a privileged environment conducive to the slow and even ripening of the grapes.

The Grand Vin, often austere in its youth, requires many years of cellaring and boasts numerous highlights: the 1982 vintage, 1990, and the 1996 vintage among the great classics, 2000, the 2005 wine, and the 2010 vintage for the more recent period. Alongside it, the Clos du Marquis, a wine in its own right from neighboring plots, and Le Petit Lion, a more approachable second wine, complete the estate's range.
