Falstaff March - 2012
Falstaff
Dark ruby-garnet, violet reflections. Rather restrained on the nose, nuances of plums, ripe morello cherries, delicate nougat notes, a hint of strawberry preserve. Elegant, freshly structured, firm tannins, dark chocolate, crisp, shows good length, a versatile food companion, mineral finish.

Barrel sample. The second wine of Léoville las-Cases is big and hearty. The fruits are solid, ripe and well balanced, with red fruits that give sweetness.

Of classic cut, with fine-grained tannin and a juicy, fresh finish. Very beautiful wine, worth 17 points with maturity.

Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
08 Clos du Marquis is 55% cabernet sauvignon, 41% merlot, 3% cabernet franc, and a dollop of petit verdot. It sees 25% new oak. Its nose is of smoky black fruit and spice. The wine finishes with soft, dark berry flavors.

Ripe and refined, with pure, driven plum, raspberry and black cherry fruit and sleek structure. Flickers of charcoal, roasted cedar and tobacco hang in the background. Should age nicely.

Tasted blind. Very evolved nose. Rather simple cassis essence on the nose. Youthful. Lots of furry fruit and tannin. The palate needs time! A conundrum.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
The Clos du Marquis is an excellent Saint Julien from Mon. Delon, although it did not quite meet my expectations under blind conditions. It has a refined, well-defined bouquet with blackberry, cedar and Margaux-like violets. The aromatics are fresh and vibrant with well-integrated oak. The palate is medium-bodied and succulent, fleshy and generous with a sweet, velvety finish. Very satisfying, though it is perhaps not a long term Saint Julien.

Château Leoville Las Cases
Château Leoville Las Cases

Château Léoville Las Cases is one of the most emblematic estates of the Saint-Julien appellation, recognized for the precision, depth and longevity of its wines. Classified as Second Grand Cru Classé in 1855, it has distinguished itself for over a century through a level of excellence and quality consistency that places it at the top of the Médoc hierarchy.

Originating from the former Léoville estate, the Château Léoville Las Cases vineyard is today protected by a historic enclosure, a rare singularity in Bordeaux, guaranteeing a strong parcel identity. Located immediately bordering the Gironde, facing the great terroirs of Pauillac, the estate benefits from a privileged environment, conducive to slow and homogeneous ripening of the grapes.

The blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot and Cabernet Franc, gives the wines a deep structure and remarkable aging potential. Among the iconic vintages are Château Léoville Las Cases 1945, Château Léoville Las Cases 1982, Château Léoville Las Cases 1990, Château Léoville Las Cases 1986, Château Léoville Las Cases 2000, Château Léoville Las Cases 2005, Château Léoville Las Cases 2014., regularly praised for their balance and evolution potential. The estate also produces a renowned second wine, Clos du Marquis, offering a more accessible interpretation of the Las Cases style.
