Wine Enthusiast January - 2017

This is a great wine. It has all the elements in place to produce a wine that will last for years: powerful fruit, rich tannins and a structure that is built to last. This is elegant, impressive and concentrated. Almost entirely Cabernet Sauvignon, the grape gives the wine its fruit and its tannins. Drink from 2028.

Falstaff April - 2015

Shows a flawlessly ripe cassis fruit behind considerable wood. On the palate soft and full-bodied foundation, mellow powerful tannin and a fine trace of acidity, mineral underlaid, with a relaxed richness that unites volume and structure.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
A brilliant effort, the 2014 Léoville Las Cases is a tightly wound classic that will delight purists. Mingling aromas of dark berries and cassis with hints of bitter chocolate, sweet spices, cigar wrapper, pencil shavings and sweet new oak, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with tangy acids and a deep, firm mid-palate framed by rich, powdery tannins. Concluding with a long, penetrating finish, the only missing ingredient is time.

Jeannie Cho Lee March - 2015

Layers of flavors that range from spices and dark berries to earth and fine herbs. There is both freshness and minerality in this vintage which is wonderful - subtle, layered and intense. A powerful wine by Las Cases this year with a high alcohol level of 14% that is higher than 2009, 2010 or 2005.

One of the top wines from the 2014 vintage, the color shows a deep ruby hue. Aromatically you find cassis, lead pencil and forest floor notes already. On the palate, the full bodied wine delivers round tannins, fresh red fruits and a nice bite of juicy cassis in the end note. The freshness, with a leafy component is a really nice sensation in the finish. For a good quality vintage of Leoville Las Cases, this will drink well relatively young, meaning that perhaps just a decade or slightly more will be ample time for the wine to open and offer its complexities.

Wine Spectator March - 2017

Densely packed, with cassis, steeped plum and blackberry coulis notes that are compressed with layers of cold charcoal and graphite. Very pure, giving this a long, sleek and racy feel, while an iron underpinning drives the finish.

Dark color, intense and lively. Moderately aromatic nose, fragrant, but discreet. The tasting takes place blind and yet this wine gives me a sensation of being too young. Gliding on the palate from the entry, flavorful in the middle, rather airy, with lots of spirit, the wine evolves aromatically between the middle and the finish without being expressive in the persistence.

Adrian van Velsen - vvWine
Dark ruby. Expressive, delicately floral nose, dark fruit, tobacco, herbs, smoke. Round and soft on the palate, shows charm and already a lovely accessibility, then expands, becomes fuller-bodied, with creamy texture and fine tannins, the acidity keeps the fruit bundle fresh and lively, energetic, and with a very long finish. Has very good potential.

Perfectly represents the particular style of Las Cases, noted as dense, robust even, angular, but without harshness, shows immense aromatic potential and great length.

Château Leoville Las Cases
Château Leoville Las Cases

Château Léoville Las Cases is one of the most iconic estates in the Saint-Julien appellation, renowned for the precision, depth, and longevity of its wines. Classified as a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé in 1855, it has distinguished itself for over a century through an uncompromising level of quality and consistency that places it at the very top of the Médoc hierarchy.

Originating from the former Léoville estate, the Château Léoville Las Cases vineyard is today protected by a historic walled enclosure — a rare distinction in Bordeaux — ensuring a strong parcel-specific identity. Located directly on the banks of the Gironde, facing the great terroirs of Pauillac, the estate benefits from a privileged environment conducive to the slow and even ripening of the grapes.

The Grand Vin, often austere in its youth, requires many years of cellaring and boasts numerous highlights: the 1982 vintage, 1990, and the 1996 vintage among the great classics, 2000, the 2005 wine, and the 2010 vintage for the more recent period. Alongside it, the Clos du Marquis, a wine in its own right from neighboring plots, and Le Petit Lion, a more approachable second wine, complete the estate's range.
