Jane Anson - Inside Bordeaux
Insanely good for an almost 60 year old wine. The clarity of expression starts right from the colour, which is vivid ruby, still with plenty of depth through the centre. Tertiary character on the palate, white truffle, leather, soy, brambled blackberry fruits, laced through with fresh mint and slow but steady lift. Standout wine of the lineup.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
The 1966 Latour remains an exemplar of the vintage, certainly one of the best, if not the best Left Bank wine of the vintage. Here, served blind, its quality was a beacon, quintessentially Pauillac with that trademark graphite seam through the intense black fruit, cold stone and a touch of tobacco. It remains undimmed by its age (though this was served from a magnum of impeccable provenance). The palate is medium-bodied and that graphite theme continues unabated, flanked by beautiful, precise and pure vestiges of black fruit. "Pure class" are the final two words of my tasting note and at 50 years old, they sum up this immensely impressive Château Latour.

Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
Lots of power here. The tobacco, herbs, spice, crushed rock, leaf, red currant, cigar box and cedar notes are strong here. The wine is full-bodied, concentrated and still shows a lot of intensity. There is a wealth of ripe, tobacco infused, spicy, cedary fruit on the palate, but the tannins are a bit gruff, giving the wine a rustic, old-school, long, classic finish.

This was supplied straight from the Château's library. Very deep ruby, amazingly so, with just some browning. A nose of beef-blood and deep vegetal aromas. Lovely, sweet cassis fruit still and classic cedary, pencil-shaving complexity. On the palate a gorgeous sweetness of alcohol and ripe, ripe fruit. Wonderfully authoritative tannic structure without any severity. Magnificent structure and complexity with clove and mineral nuances, bitter cherry and blackcurrant fruit. Extremely long, fleshy and supple, balanced and pure. Just superb.

Strong color, medium ruby garnet, lightening at the rim, very fine blackberry compote on the nose, with a strong hint of fine dark chocolate, some tar, tobacco, firm on the palate, very concentrated, raisins and chocolate aftertaste, representing the terroir and style of the house very well, still has aging potential, simply a distinguished, great wine.

The 1966 is just about at its peak. Medium red color with an amber hue. Shows plum, iodine, tobacco and mint aromas. Full-bodied, with fine tannins and plenty of sweet plum, it goes on and on at the finish.

Château Latour
Château Latour

Château Latour is one of the most emblematic estates of the Pauillac appellation and a founding reference in Bordeaux wine history. Its name appears as early as the 14th century, linked to the presence of a watchtower on the Gironde estuary, whose proximity still profoundly marks the vineyard's identity. From the 18th century onwards, Château Latour wines have been recognized for their consistency and aging potential, establishing themselves among the greatest wines of the Médoc.

Classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé during the official 1855 classification, Château Latour occupies a central place at the top of the Bordeaux hierarchy. The estate is based on a particularly homogeneous terroir of deep gravels, dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, which gives the wines a powerful structure, remarkable depth and great regularity of expression.

The signature of Château Latour is distinguished by a dense tannic architecture and demanding construction, favoring precision and longevity rather than immediate seduction. Iconic vintages such as Château Latour 1945, Château Latour 1961, Château Latour 1990, Château Latour 1996, Château Latour 2000 or Château Latour 2009 illustrate the estate's capacity to consistently express the excellence of the Pauillac terroir and the singularity of its style.
