Blackberry, strawberry, cedar, inky, minty, licorice, fresh, cool and very deep. Mellow but penetrating. Fine example of a very pleasurable old Bordeaux from the estate's glorious period.

Rich and very lovely, with excellent fruit; can age. Medium-red color, black cherry and tobacco aromas, full-bodied, with rich cherry and tobacco flavors, full tannins and a slightly dry finish.

Lots of vegetal, nicely leafy and briary quality here, with a touch of clove and camphor, and a leafy, autumnal quality to the fruit. The palate doesn't quite live up to the charm of the nose, but there is enjoyment to be had here for sure, with vestiges of fruit amongst the spice and incense of the dominant oak.

November 2005: Medium carmine garnet, ochre undertone, a hint of citrus zest on the nose, delicately animal, quite typical bouquet. Fresh and light-bodied on the palate, thoroughly cherry-like, the animal spice is still present in the finish.

Château La Mission Haut Brion
Château La Mission Haut Brion

Château La Mission Haut-Brion is one of the most emblematic estates of Pessac-Léognan, recognized for the depth, longevity and singularity of its red and white wines. Classified as Cru Classé de Graves, the château shares with its illustrious neighbor Château Haut-Brion an ancient history and an exceptional terroir, while asserting its own stylistic identity, often described as more powerful and more earthy.

Planted on deep gravel soils mixed with clays and sands, the vineyard benefits from a grape variety dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot for the reds, complemented by Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc for the whites. This diversity allows for precise blends, giving birth to wines of great aromatic intensity, structured, but always balanced.

Since its integration into the Dillon family, La Mission Haut-Brion has undergone an exemplary modernization of its facilities while maintaining a respectful approach to the terroir. Vinifications are conducted with great precision, aiming to preserve the expression of the soil and the purity of the fruit.

Major vintages such as Château La Mission Haut-Brion 1947, Château La Mission Haut-Brion 1949, Château La Mission Haut-Brion 1955, Château La Mission Haut-Brion 1982, Château La Mission Haut-Brion 1989, Château La Mission Haut-Brion 1990, Château La Mission Haut-Brion 2000, Château La Mission Haut-Brion 2010, illustrate the estate's capacity to produce exceptional wines for aging, sought after on the great collection wines market and recognized for their remarkable evolution over the decades.
