Expert's opinions

(4-1992) It is hard to believe this wine was aged for three years in new oak casks given the fact that it no longer exhibits any aromas of toast, vanillin, or smoky new oak. The super concentration of fruit has simply absorbed the oak, and the result is one of the top wines of the year in France. Still dark rubypurplegarnet, with a huge, smoked meat and black-raspberry nose, this rich, voluptuous, concentrated wine has reached full maturity, but promises to last for several decades. A glorious tasting experience.

The Maison GUIGAL vinifies and ages in its cellars, in Ampuis, the northern appellations of the Rhône Valley which are Côte-RôtieCondrieuHermitageSaint-Joseph and Crozes-Hermitage. The aging of the southern appellations Châteauneuf-du-PapeGigondas, Tavel and Côtes-du-Rhône is also assured in the Ampuis cellars.

The Hermitage 'Ex-Voto' is produced in the greatest vintages while the Saint-Joseph 'Lieu-Dit Saint-Joseph' in white and red and the famous Saint-Joseph red 'Vignes de l'Hospice' constitute references for this Appellation.

Among the jewels of the Domaine Guigal there are the inevitable Côte Rôtie "La Landonne", "La Turque" and "La Mouline". Known throughout the world, wine lovers of the Rhône are tearing themselves away. Some great vintages: 19781982198519881989199119951997199920032005
