Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
One of the treats when tasting through the profound Côte Rôties made by Marcel Guigal was the opportunity to taste all of the bottled 1995's. Reviewed in previous issues, they are even better from bottle than they were during their upbringing (a characteristic of many Guigal wines). The 1995 Côte Rôtie la Landonne is the stuff of legends and is every bit as compelling as readers might expect. This single vineyard wine will have at least 2 decades of longevity.

Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
It needs time in the decanter, but with air, the wine fills out, delivering a knockout nose, layers of concentrated, ripe, juicy, spicy, mineral driven, animalistic wild dark fruits and earthy scents. Full bodied, deep, masculine and even somewhat stern, in a refined manner. At 21 years of age, this has a long time to go. Very good now, but even better with another 5-10 years in the cellar.

A full-bodied Syrah in an international-style that's complex and seductive, layered with cinnamon, toasted oak, plum, game, smoke, mineral and black fruit flavors. Turns massively tannic on the finish. Balanced and elegant despite the obvious richness, it's tempting on release, but needs a bit of time to tame the tannins.

Beautiful dark red color. The wine is dense and thick in the glass. Nose of very ripe red fruit and plum. Delicate oak. Full-bodied yet velvety on the palate. Very structured and powerful. Very characteristic of the vintage.

Very dark blackish ruby. A bit sweet and oaky at first but it finished savoury and appetising.

Domaine Guigal
Domaine Guigal

The Domaine E. Guigal stands as one of the absolute references of the Rhône Valley, both northern and southern. Founded in 1946 in Ampuis by Étienne Guigal, the family estate has built its reputation on an exacting interpretation of terroirs and a constant pursuit of excellence. Today led by Marcel and Philippe Guigal, the domaine embodies a heritage vision of great wine, recognized on an international scale.

Historically based in Ampuis, Maison Guigal vinifies and ages in its cellars all the great northern Rhône appellations, including Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Hermitage, Saint-Joseph and Crozes-Hermitage. This same site also ensures the aging of emblematic southern appellations such as Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, guaranteeing perfect mastery of aging and a coherent stylistic identity.

Closely associated with Côte-Rôtie, where it produces some of the most iconic cuvées of the Rhône, Domaine E. Guigal distinguishes itself with wines of remarkable depth and longevity. Vintages that have become references, such as Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Turque 1985, Guigal La Landonne 1990, Guigal La Landonne 1989, Guigal Hermitage Ex-Voto 2003, Guigal La Mouline 1999, Guigal La Landonne 1989, Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Mouline 2010, Guigal La Mouline 2018 testify to the qualitative consistency and exceptional aging potential of the estate.
