Expert's opinions

Deep, dark, rich, powerful, and intense, with levels of concentration that are off the charts, you are initially seduced by its smoky, olive, peppery, floral, and fruit-filled perfume of black, red, and blue notes. The palate showcases waves of perfectly ripe black cherries, blackberries, and blueberries, supported by a wealth of tannins, smoke, spice, and espresso that coat your palate, teeth, and gums. The wine reaches the 60-second mark and continues to impress. A legend in the making that will easily deliver quality for over 50 years!

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
Subtle hints of fresh pea shoots accent characteristic dark notes of roasted meat, espresso and black olives in the full-bodied 2018 Cote Rotie La Landonne. Rich, concentrated and velvety-textured, with ample length and plenty of ripe tannins on the finish, it should benefit from a decade or more of bottle age—once it gets there. It's a brooding beast of a Cote Rotie that serious collectors will want to have in their cellars.

Nearly black in color and simmering with tightly coiled power, offering a concentrated well of winey black fruit and grilled herb notes set against a wall of smoldering cast iron. A serious, powerhouse wine kept upright by tannins that are still taut, this needs time to unfurl and reveal its beauty.

Cask sample. So distinctive: the herby, stemmy element is absolutely shining, and the fruit seems more expressive than the La Turque and La Mouline. Strong coffee-grounds note on the palate, adding a smoky bitterness. Gritty tannins that give delicious grip. A great example.

Domaine Guigal
Domaine Guigal

The Domaine E. Guigal stands as one of the absolute references of the Rhône Valley, both northern and southern. Founded in 1946 in Ampuis by Étienne Guigal, the family estate has built its reputation on an exacting interpretation of terroirs and a constant pursuit of excellence. Today led by Marcel and Philippe Guigal, the domaine embodies a heritage vision of great wine, recognized on an international scale.

Historically based in Ampuis, Maison Guigal vinifies and ages in its cellars all the great northern Rhône appellations, including Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Hermitage, Saint-Joseph and Crozes-Hermitage. This same site also ensures the aging of emblematic southern appellations such as Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, guaranteeing perfect mastery of aging and a coherent stylistic identity.

Closely associated with Côte-Rôtie, where it produces some of the most iconic cuvées of the Rhône, Domaine E. Guigal distinguishes itself with wines of remarkable depth and longevity. Vintages that have become references, such as Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Turque 1985, Guigal La Landonne 1990, Guigal La Landonne 1989, Guigal Hermitage Ex-Voto 2003, Guigal La Mouline 1999, Guigal La Landonne 1989, Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Mouline 2010, Guigal La Mouline 2018 testify to the qualitative consistency and exceptional aging potential of the estate.
