Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
Much more upfront and easy to read than the backward 2010, the 2009 Cote Rotie la Landonne is an insanely beautiful wine. Smoked meats, game, black olives, charcoal, black raspberries and pepper all literally soar from this beauty and it hits the palate with a massively concentrated, almost over-the-top decadence that's impossible to resist. Despite its wealth of fruit, it has a huge core of tannin and needs 4-5 years at a minimum. Like the 2010, it will have a half-century or more of longevity.

Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
Off the hook in every sense of those words, this is just an incredible rode. Most vintages of La Landonne require 20 years or so to become civilized. But not this beauty! Rich, concentrated and compelling, the wine oozes complexity, concentration, character and charm. Powerful, stony, smoky and deep, the tannins are soft, the fruit is perfectly ripe and while still youthful, it is impossible not to see that this wine is destined for greatness.

This delivers a stunningly ripe, pure, polished bolt of plum confiture, along with notes of anise, mocha, blueberry coulis, Black Forest cake and espresso. The finish sports admirable grip for this ripe-styled vintage, with a grounding rod of iron buried deeply. There's fruit and muscle now, with minerality to burn while this is cellared.

Very inky and dark colour, the nose is young and closed with layers of black fruit, incense, bitter chocolate, leather and tobacco, good grip on the palate, very full and concentrated with massive amounts of firm tannin in the background, rather massive and dense fruit, truly long and lingering finish and lovely spicy dark fruit, will develop well with further ageing. Should age for an eternity, excellent potential.

Jancis Robinson October - 2010

More severe than Turque. A bit green and tight for the moment, very different from the rest – it doesn't really care whether you like it or not. Slightly inky at the moment, dry finish. Slightly tarry. All the descriptions are dark, according to Philippe Guigal. Dry tannins on the end. Very different. Needs lots and lots of time. 'The most Pauillac of the crus,' according to Philippe!

GUIGAL vinifies and ages the northern appellations of the Rhône Valley in its cellars in Ampuis, including Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Hermitage, Saint-Joseph, and Crozes-Hermitage. The aging of the great southern appellations Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Tavel, and Côtes-du-Rhône is also carried out in the Ampuis cellars.

The Hermitage 'Ex-Voto' is produced in the finest vintages, while the Saint-Joseph 'Lieu-Dit Saint-Joseph' in white and red, as well as the famous red Saint-Joseph "Vignes de l'Hospice", are true benchmarks for this appellation.

Among the jewels of Domaine Guigal are the must-have Côte Rôtie "La Landonne", "La Turque", and "La Mouline". Undoubtedly known worldwide, Rhône wine enthusiasts clamor for them. Some great vintages: 1978, 1982, 1985, 1988, 1989, 1991, 1995, 1997, 1999, 2003, 2005
