1981 CHÂTEAU MARGAUX 1981

The previous four years were marked by fairly late harvests. This year 1981 is a return to a classic date.
The 1981 vintage at Château Margaux is very qualitative, and even superior to previous years, in particular 1978 and 1979. Margaux 1981 is a very good wine, elegant, balanced and mature.

The other wine of the vintage. Seriously powerful with fabulous color and mint, cassis and berry aromas and flavors. Has a full body and is tannic; still needs time to come around.

Clear and evolved color. Discreet, fruity nose with a hint of wet wool. Delicate from the start, marked to the taste by a note of cedar, juicy, slender and tasty, this wine melts on the palate with class in the course. Good length.

Château Margaux

Château Margaux is one of the largest wine estates in Bordeaux. In AOC, Margaux appears in the first classified growths of the official classification of Médoc wines of 1855.

If it is a privilege to bear the name of its Margaux appellation, there is no doubt that Château Margaux does it great honor.

For several centuries, this Premier Cru Classé has expressed to the highest degree the exceptional qualities of terroirs patiently brought together by several generations of owners. Maintained and harvested exclusively by hand with extreme care, the 78 hectares of vines (75% Cabernet-Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 5% Cabernet-Franc and Petit-Verdot) draw their richness very deeply from the soil. clayey-gravelly, particularly dense and thick.

Fermentation in oak vats, after which the wine is strictly selected, is followed by 18 to 24 months of aging in new oak barrels. A masterpiece among the Bordeaux wines, the best according to some, Château Margaux reveals finesse and opulence, depth and complexity on tasting, and develops a bouquet of rare elegance of rose, violet, black fruits, under -taut by tight tannins that require patient aging before blossoming. The château also produces a second wine, Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux, and a dry white wine, Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux (100% Sauvignon Blanc).

Best vintages of Château Margaux are : 1900, 1928, 1953, 1982, 1983, 1986, 1989, 1990
