2007 Vintage wine
Our opinion on the 2007 vintage: a very great vintage in Rhône and Sauternes.
In Bordeaux, the 2007 vintage was marked by weather challenges, despite this, good wines were made. The 2007 vintage offers lovely wines, full of elegance and finesse. An excellent year for the 2007 Sauternes. In Bordeaux, the 2007 vintage was marked by weather challenges, despite this, some good wines were made. In Burgundy, a hot April was followed by a cool, wet summer, causing problems with mold and rot. Fortunately, good weather in late August and September saved the harvest. Even if all the domains were not able to produce very great wines, the vintage is correct in red, but excellent in white.

ARMAND ROUSSEAU Clos de Bèze 2007
The 2007 Rhône vintage was exceptional, especially for the reds. The Syrahs were fresh and concentrated, and the Southern Rhône blends were rich and ripe for aging. Overall, a very good vintage.
Finally, the 2007 champagnes are quite good despite complicated climatic conditions. Indeed, a mild winter was followed by a hot spring and a cool, wet summer, leading to ripening difficulties and the risk of rot.
Our advice for buying a 2007 wine
In Bordeaux, the Pessac-Léognan whites were excellent, but the reds were lighter than usual. Incidentally, the best reds come mainly from Pomerol and Saint-Julien, with some good examples also produced in Pauillac.
In Burgundy, the 2007 white wines are fresh and aromatic, while the Pinot Noir reds are bright, but some may lack depth. The best red wines come this year mainly from the Gevrey Chambertin, Nuits-Saint-Georges and Vosne-Romanée appellations.
It is undeniably in the Rhône region where the best wines of the 2007 vintage were produced. We recommend the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, which delivers great red wines, supple, with good acidity.
On the Champagne side, Chardonnay was the most successful, while Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier experienced difficulties. Despite this, good wines were made, especially when Chardonnay was dominant.
