Château de Fargues has belonged to the same family for over half a millennium! It was in 1472 that this estate entered the Lur Saluces family patrimony.
Château de Fargues, like the great Sauternes, has a aging potential of several decades. Enthusiasts of candied notes will need to wait a good twenty years before taking the wines out of their cellar. Raised by the Lur Saluces family, like Château d'Yquem, this Sauternes reflects the rigor, passion, and talent of great winemakers. The vineyards extend over about fifteen hectares of gravelly hillocks on a clay-gravel subsoil. Grape varieties: 80% Sémillon, 20% Sauvignon. Best years: 1945, 1947, 1949, 1955, 1959, 1962, 1967, 1971, 1983, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1995, 1996.
