This smells as if it might be a late-harvest style wine, but actually it’s properly dry on the full-bodied and very crisp palate. A most unusual balance, but I find that very exciting. Long, driving finish in which a note of caramelized pear is interwoven with the flinty acidity. From biodynamically grown grapes with Biodyvin certification. Drink or hold. Tasted at the Zind-Humbrecht Grand Cru Rangen vertical in November 2023.

Rich and dry, with smoky minerality and nervy acidity providing more firm structure right now than flesh. But notes of yellow peach, fennel seed, candied orange peel and curry spices hint at the abundant flavor profile to come as the wine ages and opens up. Delicious, with a long life ahead of it. Best from 2011 through 2030.
