Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
Tasted blind as a vintage comparison at the Valandraud vertical, the 2000 Leoville-Las-Cases is a quite fabulous, magisterial Saint Julien that is only just beginning to flex its muscles. It has a very intense and beautifully defined bouquet with mineral rich blackberry and bilberry scents, outstanding focus and harmony, and very well-integrated oak. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, impressive backbone and focus in situ. There is a touch of mint infusing the fruit here, superb tension with a touch of mulberry and Hoi Sin lingering on the finish that still feels backward and sinewy. What was remarkable was to observe the melioration in the glass, achieving wondrous energy and delineation with time, still improving after a couple of hours. Buy it, cellar it, drink it.

Falstaff March - 2015
Falstaff
Strong ruby garnet, violet reflections, broader rim lightening. Juicy, fruity-sweet and inviting, ripe plum fruit, fine goudron, a hint of nougat. Substantial, complex, pleasant extract sweetness, silky tannins, wonderful balance and freshness, already accessible, mineral aftertaste, great class.

Jeannie Cho Lee March - 2016
Jeannie Cho Lee
A beautiful, majestic Las Cases wrapped in a thick coat of velvety ripe tannins and lovely layers of cedar, tobacco, cassis and blackberries. Long finish with the potential to age for many more decades.

Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
Concentrated, deep, full-bodied, regal, and complex, the wine retains its youthful edge, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. Slowly, but surely, the tannins are beginning to subside, and you also find more secondary nuances of tobacco leaf, tar, smoke, wet forest, and spice. The finish is long and expansive. 1 hour in the decanter adds a lot to the wine.

Château Leoville Las Cases
Château Leoville Las Cases

Château Léoville Las Cases is one of the most iconic estates in the Saint-Julien appellation, renowned for the precision, depth, and longevity of its wines. Classified as a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé in 1855, it has distinguished itself for over a century through an uncompromising level of quality and consistency that places it at the very top of the Médoc hierarchy.

Originating from the former Léoville estate, the Château Léoville Las Cases vineyard is today protected by a historic walled enclosure — a rare distinction in Bordeaux — ensuring a strong parcel-specific identity. Located directly on the banks of the Gironde, facing the great terroirs of Pauillac, the estate benefits from a privileged environment conducive to the slow and even ripening of the grapes.

The Grand Vin, often austere in its youth, requires many years of cellaring and boasts numerous highlights: the 1982 vintage, 1990, and the 1996 vintage among the great classics, 2000, the 2005 wine, and the 2010 vintage for the more recent period. Alongside it, the Clos du Marquis, a wine in its own right from neighboring plots, and Le Petit Lion, a more approachable second wine, complete the estate's range.
