CHÂTEAU LAFITE ROTHSCHILD 1992

The weather conditions of the 1992 vintage were difficult. The harvest took place under cloudy and somewhat rainy conditions. Nevertheless, the grapes were harvested in excellent condition.
Château Lafitte 1992 is a wine with good levels of tannins, a balanced structure and well marked aromas. The nose is spicy and woody. This classified growth has a magnificent purple color.

Jean-Marc Quarin January - 2001

Dark red color. Medium intensity. Superb black highlights. Slight evolution. Brilliant. Curious nose. Once again, that magical mouthfeel and lots of fruit in the mid-palate. The meticulousness of the tannic texture transcends it and the finish is melting, very fruity, but also marked by a slightly burnt and licorice oak. Great length. Wine of noble origin, not quite well adjusted by the winemaker or from an average vintage. Nose too curious to be rated very highly! A nice surprise at the table, but the score remains difficult to assign because of the nose! Nevertheless, the consumer should know that, placed between 1989 and 1990, this wine did not disappoint! A good deal.

Started big. Cassis, light tobacco, fall leaves, bursting at the front of the nose (vs. deeper in). Nose then shied away, turned to a bit of mushroom and then red licorice, followed by some minty anise and pepperoni. two hours in bottle, and boom, the nose is back but deeper this time and gives you that immediate eyebrow raising reaction. Couldn't quite get there again though. more pure red fruit coming through a bit. Stays classy if not the most overt example of a vintage. Plenty happy with the result and would say is in a good drinking window. Seems like storage conditions are paramount

Falstaff November - 2009

Intense ruby ??garnet, amazing depth of color, orange reflections, delicate watery edge. On the nose, cassis and blackberry jelly, a hint of cedarwood and sour cherry, delicate raisins, a very inviting, well-developed bouquet. Relatively juicy on the palate, with hints of dark berry fruit, a fresh structure, a firm tannin core, and a long finish. A very pleasant surprise from the standard bottle, with undeniable potential for improvement.

A real achievement for the vintage, boasting plenty of fruit, tobacco and dark chocolate character. Full-bodied and velvety; impressive richness of ripe tannins.

Château Lafite Rothschild
Château Lafite Rothschild

Château Lafite Rothschild, 1st growth in 1855, is one of Bordeaux's most famous chateaux. It shares with the greatest the top of the official classification of 1855. Located on the Pauillac appellation, the vineyard of 103 ha is divided into three parcels: the hills surrounding the Château, the Carruades plateau to the west and a parcel of 4.5 ha in the neighboring town of Saint-Estèphe. Most of the terroir is composed of fine and deep gravel mixed with Aeolian sand on a tertiary limestone bedrock. The grape varieties are 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. The average age of the vineyards of the great wine is 40 years, the 20 ha of young vines (less than 10 years) being used for the development of the second wine. There are also extremely old plots of over 80 years, one called "La Gravière" dating back to 1886. The maturation of the wine is carried out for 18 to 20 months in 100% new oak barrels. Lafite Rothschild produces about 15,000 to 20,000 cases per year. The estate also produces a second wine, the Carruades de Lafite, for around 25,000 to 30,000 cases. The name of the second wine of Chateau Lafite Rothschild of the "plateau Carruades, where stood a group of plots, which was bought by the castle in the nineteenth century, and which adjoined the rump Castle. The "Carruades de Lafite" were once called "Moulin des Carruades", then take the name, Carruades de Lafite.

The mythical vintages of Chateau Lafite Rothschild are 1921, 19451959198219861988 and 2000, 2005 in recent years.
