Beautiful deep-garnet color, with classic Médoc flavors of plum, spice, earth and mineral. Tannic, well-balanced, mouth-filling, chewy in its intensity but needs time.

In the Médoc, I was served Brie de Meaux twice. The first time with Lafite 1978 in jeroboam. Fortunately, an old Mimolette was also on the plate. The wine presented a beautiful complex nose, fresh and subtle. Superb entry on the palate, silky, becoming full. Beautiful middle rich in aromas. The wine melts without being very structured. Unfortunately, the Brie de Meaux brings out the acidity of the wine. Quite the contrary, the Mimolette softens it.

This magnum with original cork consumed at the chateau is stunning. Really suprising wine that tastes like a wine from the 1980s. It is the magnum format and the pristine storage conditions that no doubt contribute to the amazing vibrant, complex flavours in this wine. The tannins are silky, the flavours subtle yet evolved, expressive and shining with great clarity. The wine is at its peak and has a great length. A beautiful slim, focused, vibrant beauty.

Château Lafite Rothschild
Château Lafite Rothschild

Château Lafite Rothschild is one of the oldest and most prestigious estates in the Pauillac appellation, on the Left Bank of Bordeaux. Its origins date back to the Middle Ages, but it was in the 18th century that the château acquired international renown, particularly among European courts. In the 1855 classification, Château Lafite Rothschild was ranked Premier Grand Cru Classé, permanently establishing its status at the top of the Bordeaux hierarchy.

Owned by the Rothschild family since 1868, the estate rests on a terroir of fine, deep gravel, perfectly suited to Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines of Château Lafite Rothschild are distinguished by their finesse, aromatic precision and balance, favoring elegance and length over demonstrative power.

Emblematic vintages such as Château Lafite Rothschild 1945, Château Lafite Rothschild 1982, Château Lafite Rothschild 1986, Château Lafite Rothschild 1990, Château Lafite Rothschild 1996, Château Lafite Rothschild 2000 or Château Lafite Rothschild 2005 illustrate the estate's stylistic consistency and its ability to express the identity of Pauillac with clarity. Château Lafite Rothschild remains an essential reference for understanding the classical excellence of great Bordeaux wines.
