Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
The 2006 Vouvray Clos du Bourg Moelleux Première Trie is drinking beautifully today, offering a pure and ethereal bouquet of baked pear, smoke, spices, ripe orchard fruits, truffle and exotic nuances, all accented by a touch of reduction and minty lift with aeration. Full-bodied, ample and concentrated, it delivers an enveloping core of fruit supported by bright acidity and a finely textured phenolic mid-palate. The finish is long, fruity and seemingly endless. Clos du Bourg is often the most powerful and telluric expression in Huet’s cellar, and in this vintage, that character is on full and glorious display.

Première Trie means a wine from the first selection of grapes during harvest. This wine, now firmly closed up, as is expected with Chenin Blanc, is headed towards an opulent future, even though the fruit is kept firmly in check by the long-term aging potential.

Rich and sweet, but with really fine cut, as quince, dried persimmon and dried mango notes ripple along, backed by enticing ginger and green almond notes. Stays sweet, but chiseled.

Gold colour. Lively and zesty on the nose with citrus and candied-fruit notes. Some sweetness but palate-cleansing acidity makes it thirst-quenching. Dry and lifted on the finish.

Domaine Huet

Domaine Huet is a renowned wine estate located in Vouvray, France, in the Loire Valley. Founded in 1928 by Victor Huet and his son Gaston, the estate is famous for producing exceptional wines from the Chenin Blanc grape variety. The Huet family has been making wines in Vouvray for over 90 years. They are pioneers of biodynamic viticulture and have been practicing this holistic approach since the early 1980s. The estate's philosophy is to produce wines that express the unique character of their terroir.

The vines are planted on three distinct terroirs: - Le Mont: a siliceous and clay-limestone terroir that produces elegant and complex wines. - Le Haut-Lieu: a clay-rich terroir that produces powerful and structured wines. - Clos du Bourg: a limestone terroir that produces rich and round wines.
