Cellar Tracker January - 2014
Cellar Tracker
Tasted blind. Clean, medium (+) garnet with brown hues. Definitely showing a little age. The nose is clean, developed and medium (+) in intensity, with aromas of dry red cherries, tar, earth, forest floor. The palate is dry, with medium (+) acidity, medium alcohol and resolved tannins. This is a well made wine which is ready and perhaps past its prime. I would not have guessed that it was this old, however, so it showed pretty well.

The Maison GUIGAL vinifies and ages in its cellars, in Ampuis, the northern appellations of the Rhône Valley which are Côte-RôtieCondrieuHermitageSaint-Joseph and Crozes-Hermitage. The aging of the southern appellations Châteauneuf-du-PapeGigondas, Tavel and Côtes-du-Rhône is also assured in the Ampuis cellars.

The Hermitage 'Ex-Voto' is produced in the greatest vintages while the Saint-Joseph 'Lieu-Dit Saint-Joseph' in white and red and the famous Saint-Joseph red 'Vignes de l'Hospice' constitute references for this Appellation.

Among the jewels of the Domaine Guigal there are the inevitable Côte Rôtie "La Landonne", "La Turque" and "La Mouline". Known throughout the world, wine lovers of the Rhône are tearing themselves away. Some great vintages: 19781982198519881989199119951997199920032005
