Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
I was surprised how well this has aged. Soft in texture, with earth, blackberry and smoky nuances, popped and poured, this medium-bodied wine is drinking in its sweet spot.

Tasted blind. Quite rich and sweet with an undertow of stoniness and tannin. A good, typical St-Estèphe. Excellent length.

Falstaff March - 2012
Falstaff
Dark ruby-garnet, violet reflections. Fine red wild berry fruit on the nose, delicate herbal spice, tobacco nuances, underlaid with fine nougat. Juicy and balanced, freshly structured, notes of red cherries, lively acidity also on the finish, good aging potential.

There are certainly elements of new wood here, while the fruit gives sweetness and ripeness. The tannins hover between high toast and ripe Cabernet. To finish, there is ripe, black and juicy fruit.

The second wine of Cos d'Estournel has become a safe bet: great freshness and refinement, finishing fruity and fiery.

Jane Anson - Inside Bordeaux
Clear spice, red peppers, black truffles, cassis bud, pomegranate, beautiful lift and freshness, giving a mouthwatering finish that is just extremely drinkable. 20% new oak for ageing. This was the first vintage in the new gravity-fed cellar, adding extra level of precision. Deep plum in colour, as is classic across the Cos wines, with low yields of 28hl/h (but as of this vintage the team really pulled back on green harvesting, pretty much stopping it entirely as of 2009 through to 2023).

Solidly ripe for the vintage, displaying a core of plum sauce and cassis, with savory herb, black licorice and iron notes and a good, racy finish.

Magazine RVF A great success and a very seductive wine. It offers a superb very creamy texture in the mouth, with a silky touch and a remarkable length. This is a perfect introduction to the world of great wines.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
A lighter version of the 2010 Pagodes, the 2008 offers up aromas of herbs, incense, charcoal, black currants and cherries. An elegant, mid-weight wine with sweet tannin as well as an attractive, open-knit personality, it should drink nicely for a decade.

Château Cos D'Estournel
Château Cos D'Estournel

Château Cos d'Estournel is one of the most iconic estates of the Saint-Estèphe appellation, on the left bank of Bordeaux. Classified as Second Grand Cru Classé in 1855, it owes its singular identity to its location on the Cos hillside and to the bold vision of its founder, Louis-Gaspard d'Estournel, a prominent figure of the 19th century nicknamed the "Maharajah of Saint-Estèphe".

From its beginnings, Cos d'Estournel established itself through an international ambition rare for the time, exporting its wines as far as Asia. This openness to the world is still reflected today in the unique architecture of the château, inspired by the Far East, a true visual signature in the Médoc. The vineyard rests on terroir of deep gravel mixed with clay, benefiting from the proximity of the Gironde estuary, giving the wines structure, depth and complexity.
