The nose is elegant, precise, finely tight, refined and offers concentration, power, beautiful definition and depth. It reveals notes of wild blackberry, well-ripened blackcurrant and small notes of dried wild strawberry combined with touches of violet, lily, nutmeg as well as notes of undergrowth, timbered pepper, fine notes of camphor and tobacco. The palate is magnificently constructed, full of balance and offers juiciness, freshness, indulgence, a tangy structure, tension, beautiful amplitude, beautiful fineness of grain, richness as well as beautiful definition, power (full of control/finesse) and depth. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of pulpy/juicy blackcurrant, well-ripened wild blackberry and small notes of dried wild strawberry combined with touches of small black fruits, amphora, violet, nutmeg as well as notes of undergrowth, tobacco, nutmeg, discreet notes of bergamot and an imperceptible hint of truffle. The tannins are precise, elegant, refined and structuring. Good length and persistence. An imperceptible almost saline note on the finish/persistence.

Deep garnet in color, the 2010 Cos d'Estournel unfurls slowly, measuredly, releasing delicate notes of dried mulberries, stewed plums and blackcurrant pastilles before giving way to notions of potpourri, black cherry compote and chocolate box plus touches of dried sage, tobacco and new leather. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has a rock-solid foundation of very firm, grainy tannins and very lively acidity supporting the remarkable intensity of tightly wound fruit layers, finishing very long and fragrant.

Dark ruby-garnet, violet reflections, subtle lightening at the edges, intense blackberry fruit, attractive, ripe plums underneath, a hint of nougat and cocoa, delicate caramel, subtle dried fruit nuances. Very powerful, sweet and full-bodied, dark nougat, well integrated, tannins present, pleasant sweetness. Freshly structured, oranges on the finish, very good future potential, chocolatey finish, fine extract sweetness on the finish.

Château Cos D'Estournel

Château Cos d'Estournel is one of the most iconic estates of the Saint-Estèphe appellation, on the left bank of Bordeaux. Classified as Second Grand Cru Classé in 1855, it owes its singular identity to its location on the Cos hillside and to the bold vision of its founder, Louis-Gaspard d'Estournel, a prominent figure of the 19th century nicknamed the "Maharajah of Saint-Estèphe".

From its beginnings, Cos d'Estournel established itself through an international ambition rare for the time, exporting its wines as far as Asia. This openness to the world is still reflected today in the unique architecture of the château, inspired by the Far East, a true visual signature in the Médoc. The vineyard rests on terroir of deep gravel mixed with clay, benefiting from the proximity of the Gironde estuary, giving the wines structure, depth and complexity.
