If multiple bottles are in stock, the photo is non-contractual and illustrates the condition of the bottle.

The 2001 Cheval Blanc blend is 68% Merlot and only 32% Cabernet Franc. A year without hitches in the vineyards of the Château despite the excessive heat during the summer. At the tasting the Cheval Blanc 2001 is a complete and fresh wine. The fruit is present in the mouth with nice tannins. Drink now or keep for several more years in the cellar.

Jeannie Cho Lee November - 2014
Jeannie Cho Lee
Powerful, intense, voluptuous Cheval Blanc that is the best Bordeaux red from this vintage. The wine is complete with a mix of herbs, blackberry, plum and hint of black truffle. Palate explodes with flavor without any heaviness or effort - seamless from the beginning to the end. Persistent finish that lingers for more than 20 seconds.

Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
Continuing to improve, here, you find everything great about Cheval Blanc. Silky, sensuous, and complex, the wine kicks off with its display of flowers, cherries, mint, and blue fruit. The palate is opulent, lifted, and elegant, finishing with layers of polished, velvety fruits. There is no better deal for a Cheval Blanc with age in the market today. Drink from 2024-2050.

Jane Anson - Inside Bordeaux
Nuanced supple tannins with saffron, cold ash and violets notes. Extremely charming, this highlights so many of the things that Cheval Blanc does so well – nuance, elegant, precision, flesh, silken fruits with freshly crushed mint and eucalyptus on the finish.

La Revue du Vin de France
RVF Magazine The nose is sanguine, stylized. Structured by 40% Cabernet Franc, the palate displays tannins that are still a little firm, but slender, and combines density and freshness. Still vigorous, with length, this vintage is only just beginning to reveal secondary notes of cedar.

Mid crimson. Sinewy and readable but a little bit feeble and not as convincing when tasted immediately after Latour 2001.

Château Cheval Blanc
Château Cheval Blanc

Château Cheval Blanc is one of the most iconic estates of the Saint-Émilion appellation, on the right bank of Bordeaux. Classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé A, it holds a singular place in the history of the Bordeaux vineyard, both for the exceptional consistency of its quality and for the uniqueness of its terroir and grape varieties. Located at the natural border between Saint-Émilion and Pomerol, the estate benefits from a rare mosaic of soils in Bordeaux, combining gravel, clay and sand.

The vineyard of Château Cheval Blanc extends over approximately 39 hectares, divided into numerous distinct parcels, each vinified separately in order to preserve the expression of its terroir. The grape variety, dominated by Cabernet Franc, complemented by Merlot and a small proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon, constitutes an exception in Saint-Émilion and gives the wines a slender structure, natural freshness and remarkable aging potential.

The estate's philosophy is based on extremely precise parcel viticulture, controlled yields and vinifications conducted with rigor and restraint. The aging process accompanies the wine without ever masking the purity of the fruit or the complexity of the terroir. The wines of Château Cheval Blanc are distinguished by their rare balance between intensity, finesse and aromatic depth.

Among the iconic vintages are notably Château Cheval Blanc 1947, Château Cheval Blanc 1949, Château Cheval Blanc 1955, Château Cheval Blanc 1982, Château Cheval Blanc 1990, Château Cheval Blanc 1998, Château Cheval Blanc 1989, Château Cheval Blanc 2000, Château Cheval Blanc 2005, Château Cheval Blanc 2010, regularly praised for their longevity and elegance.
