Medium bodied, fresh, earthy, floral wine, with a steak of herbs, and leafy notes. There is softness to the tannins, but there is a leafy, green, discernable note in the otherwise, red plum finish. There is no reason for further aging here.

Tobacco-like taste. A sweet and lovely wine.

Still fresh and fruity, this offers floral aromas and harmonious, balanced flavors of cherry, berry and mint. It's drinking well now, but will hold.

Medium ruby red, lightened rim. Initially the nose appears somewhat dusty, requiring a good amount of air, followed by smoke, tea, tobacco, peat and even a hint of bouillon, interspersed with dark cherries and spicy notes, with very good complexity. On the palate, a medium-bodied attack, red fruit aromas, structured, with slightly drying tannins. The acidity is juicy and lends freshness to the wine, but the overall package still seems somewhat unruly, definitely needs more maturation, finishing with medium length on red cherries and a delicate spice. It's not an ideal time, but the fruit seems solid enough, so in my opinion the wine certainly has a good future. It could well be in for a surprise in 5-10 years.

Château Cheval Blanc
Château Cheval Blanc

Château Cheval Blanc is one of the most iconic estates of the Saint-Émilion appellation, on the right bank of Bordeaux. Classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé A, it holds a singular place in the history of the Bordeaux vineyard, both for the exceptional consistency of its quality and for the uniqueness of its terroir and grape varieties. Located at the natural border between Saint-Émilion and Pomerol, the estate benefits from a rare mosaic of soils in Bordeaux, combining gravel, clay and sand.

The vineyard of Château Cheval Blanc extends over approximately 39 hectares, divided into numerous distinct parcels, each vinified separately in order to preserve the expression of its terroir. The grape variety, dominated by Cabernet Franc, complemented by Merlot and a small proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon, constitutes an exception in Saint-Émilion and gives the wines a slender structure, natural freshness and remarkable aging potential.

The estate's philosophy is based on extremely precise parcel viticulture, controlled yields and vinifications conducted with rigor and restraint. The aging process accompanies the wine without ever masking the purity of the fruit or the complexity of the terroir. The wines of Château Cheval Blanc are distinguished by their rare balance between intensity, finesse and aromatic depth.

Among the iconic vintages are notably Château Cheval Blanc 1947, Château Cheval Blanc 1949, Château Cheval Blanc 1955, Château Cheval Blanc 1982, Château Cheval Blanc 1990, Château Cheval Blanc 1998, Château Cheval Blanc 1989, Château Cheval Blanc 2000, Château Cheval Blanc 2005, Château Cheval Blanc 2010, regularly praised for their longevity and elegance.
