If multiple bottles are in stock, the photo is non-contractual and illustrates the condition of the bottle.

Yields from the 1984 vintage were low at Château d'Yquem. However, the overall quality of the vintage is satisfactory. We are talking about a rather classic vintage. Château d'Yquem 1984 presents aromas of frozen pineapple and smoked almonds. A great success for the Château.

Falstaff December - 2016
Falstaff
Luminous red gold with amber reflections. Intense bouquet, nuances of bergamot and orange oil. Complex on the palate, honey nuances, appears powerful and woody-spicy, salty minerality in the background, the alcohol comes slightly to the fore, delicately drying tannins resonate, nuances of canned peach on the finish, may have already passed its peak in standard bottles.

Dark Golden in colour. Notes of honey, butterscotch, pineapple, and apricot. Nice acidity, and long finish. When first opened it was quite muted, but then as it opened up, wow, it exploded with so many different smells and tastes. Such a treat.

Coppery color. Lovely fruity nose, finely oaked and vanilla-scented. Very fruity, flavorful palate, with a pronounced saffron taste. Slightly harsh finish.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
This is a surprisingly good wine made under very trying conditions. Yquem began to harvest on October 15 and made the last pass through the vineyards on November 13. Seventy-five percent of the crop was retained for Yquem. The wine at present exhibits a great deal of toasty oak in the bouquet, which is also filled with scents of smoked almonds, glazed pineapples, and honey and caramel. In the mouth, the wine is less flamboyant, with less glycerin and power than usual, but it is still a rich, full-bodied Yquem with a great deal of personality and character. It will not have the great aging potential of the top vintages, but I fully expect it to last at least another 20 years.

Wine Spectator May - 1999
Wine Spectator
This wine was produced with the help of cryoextraction. It's well made, quite dense on the palate, with good sweetness. Lacks the botrytis aromas and flavors that normally give length to Yquems made in years with abundant noble rot.--Yquem vertical. Drink now.

Château d'Yquem
Château d'Yquem

Château d'Yquem is an absolute reference for great sweet wines and occupies a unique place in the wine history of Bordeaux. Located in the heart of the Sauternes appellation, the estate benefits from exceptional terroir and microclimate that favor the development of botrytis cinerea. During the official classification of 1855, Château d'Yquem obtained an unparalleled status by being consecrated Premier Cru Supérieur, a unique distinction among the great classified growths.

The identity of Château d'Yquem is based on extreme rigor at every stage of production: very low yields, harvesting by successive selections and rigorous selection of grapes. Long owned by the Lur Saluces family, the estate has belonged since 1997 to the LVMH group, which has chosen to preserve the technical independence and historical rigor of the château.

In great years, Château d'Yquem gives birth to vintages that have become emblematic, such as Château d'Yquem 1908, Château d'Yquem 1921, Château d'Yquem 1945, Château d'Yquem 1949, Château d'Yquem 1967, Château d'Yquem 2009, illustrating an exceptional aging capacity, which can extend over several decades, or even beyond.
