Best enjoyed between 1990 and 2053
Château's note: A vintage with very favorable weather conditions and a beautiful hot and dry summer; a first beautiful selection was harvested from 9/26 to 10/3, with some rain in between; harvesting resumed from 10/9. High temperatures and warm nights produced perfect Botrytis, and harvesting ended on 10/26. A very ripe harvest with extreme concentration, resulting in a wine with subtle balance, the reference of the 60s/70s.

Just gorgeous. Still fresh with the most beautiful undertow of rich, complex sweetness. (JR)

Falstaff December - 2023
Falstaff
A legendary vintage, rightly regarded as the legitimate successor to the 1937. Known as an incredibly deep, opulent and multi-layered wine from a great botrytis vintage, this wine is now in perfect balance. It has thus taken over fifty years to reach its zenith, where it will probably remain for decades. Intense gold with a reddish shimmer, an unmistakable Yquem bouquet on the nose, delicate notes of lanolin, ripe tropical fruits, spices, honey, fine oak, which build with air to an aromatic crescendo of superlatives. Perfectly balanced on the palate for all its complexity and power, making it appear light-footed and floating, a fine fruity texture of stone fruit, the typical bourbon vanilla, a wine into which one can literally immerse oneself. Has everything that makes an exceptional wine. (12/2023, drink - 2050).

Wine Spectator May - 1999
Wine Spectator
From one of the 20th century's celebrated vintages for Yquem, this bottle stands up to all the hype--unforgettable for its purity, elegance, harmony, its "total" everything. Powerful, yet it seems weightless on the palate, almost defying gravity as it tangos around with its vanilla, peach and apricot flavors. Seamless, nearly endless finish. Easy to understand its reputation as the greatest Yquem of the last 35 years.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
1967 was a legendary year for Yquem. And this was indeed a very good bottle, tasted at the Chateau in spring 2019. Displaying a gorgeous deep amber-gold color, the 1967 d'Yquem slips sensuously out of the glass with a profound perfume of dried mandarin peel, allspice, praline, cinnamon toast and orange blossoms plus hints of gingerbread and accents of lemon butter. The palate is simply electric with citrus and spice-sparked energy, delivering youthfully vibrant notes with a tantalizing floral undercurrent. Superb freshness knit inseparably with the complex sweetness makes this seem like a deceptively delicate, lithe, medium-dry style, even if the truth is far richer yet with edifying persistence.

Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
The gorgeous copper, golden, amber hue is a sight to see. Aromas of marshmallow, caramel, brown butter, creme brûlée, almonds, spice, and roasted apricots are off the hook. The wine is rich, silky, concentrated and with a serious depth of flavor, opulent and lush, with silky tannins that deliver waves of sweet, caramel coated fruits with the balance of racy acidity makes this a compelling tasting experience. Drink now, or over the next 30-40 or 50 years!

Most recently, a fragrant, 'dancing', lime blossom bouquet; perfect weight and finess. This was Comte Alexandre de Lur Saluces' first majour vintage and one of which, understandably, he is inordinately proud.

Château d'Yquem
Château d'Yquem

Château d'Yquem is an absolute benchmark among great sweet wines and occupies a unique place in the wine history of Bordeaux. Located in the heart of the Sauternes appellation, the estate benefits from exceptional terroir and microclimate that favor the development of botrytis cinerea. In the official 1855 classification, Château d'Yquem obtained an unparalleled status by being consecrated Premier Cru Supérieur, a unique distinction among the grands crus classés.

The identity of Château d'Yquem is based on extreme rigor at every stage of production: very low yields, successive selective harvests and rigorous selection of grapes. Long the property of the Lur Saluces family, the estate has belonged to the LVMH group since 1997, which has chosen to preserve the technical independence and historical standards of the château.

In great years, Château d'Yquem produces legendary vintages, such as Château d'Yquem 1908, Château d'Yquem 1921, Château d'Yquem 1945, Château d'Yquem 1949, Château d'Yquem 1967, Château d'Yquem 2009, demonstrating an exceptional aging capacity that can extend over several decades, or even beyond.
