Wine Spectator November - 1998

This has always been one of the great wines of the vintage and one of the greatest ever produced at this estate. Seriously dark ruby in color, with blackberry, earth and fresh floral aromas. Full-bodied, with full silky tannins and thick, ripe fruit. Still needs time.

Jean-Marc Quarin October - 1991
Jean-Marc Quarin
Blood red color, dark with ruby and vermilion reflections. Clean nose, very intense. Fruity and powerful. Then a slightly less refined note. When swirled, clean, very intense. Powerful and animal. Soft and supple attack. Development on a fleshy, velvety structure. Very supple intensity in the mid-palate. Slow evolution on a very well-balanced and fruity tannin, licorice-like and complex that gives energy to the finish and breaks a slight effect of softness. Very long textured and refined persistence. Great wine that is both supple and concentrated, all in the finish. Pity it's not the nose of the 85!

Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
82 Canon is a beautiful wine, elegant, silky, earthy, floral, herbal and on the fresh, ripe, red berry side of the style range. Medium-bodied, and not quite as concentrated as it was, while still a treat, it’s time to drink up over the next 5 years or so, as it’s not going to get better from here.

Soft and appealing with real mineral notes. Very fruity and ready. Gentle, beguiling texture. Drink now!

Château Canon

Château Canon is a 34-hectare wine estate located in Saint-Emilion in the Gironde department. Classified as a Premier grand cru classé B in the Saint-Emilion classification, Château Canon was one of the first estates in the Bordeaux region where the vineyard held a primary place. Despite being a neighbor of Ausone and a 1er grand cru, the wine has never reached the level one might expect from it.

The acquisition of Château Canon in 1996 by the Chanel company has nevertheless given a second wind to this growth. Indeed, significant investments, particularly in the winery, have improved the quality of the wine. Château Canon is known for its meticulous selection of grapes in three stages, and there is no doubt that the work undertaken by the estate will increasingly bear fruit.
