Tasted in magnum. It has been fourteen years since I last tasted this wine. I considered it then as one of the greatest successes in Bordeaux in this vintage. And this bottle, retasted at the château, gave me great pleasure. The color is dark and of course evolved. The nose is intense, fine, subtle, aromatic, complex. The palate begins tender and extremely fruity, supple and subtle in its texture and aromas. This wine is structured, rich with a silky finish, long and subtle in its structure and flavors. This is great wine, refined, which reminds us that Canon possesses an exceptional personality in Saint-Émilion.

Very old nose and a decidedly sweet palate that's a definite improvement on the nose. Quite long actually. Better than the Rauzan-Ségla 1985.

. I have always thought highly of this wine. It's ripe and fleshy, offering up loads of fruit and medium tannins. Delicious now, but will improve.

Château Canon

Château Canon is a 34-hectare wine estate located in Saint-Emilion in the Gironde department. Classified as a Premier grand cru classé B in the Saint-Emilion classification, Château Canon was one of the first estates in the Bordeaux region where the vineyard held a primary place. Despite being a neighbor of Ausone and a 1er grand cru, the wine has never reached the level one might expect from it.

The acquisition of Château Canon in 1996 by the Chanel company has nevertheless given a second wind to this growth. Indeed, significant investments, particularly in the winery, have improved the quality of the wine. Château Canon is known for its meticulous selection of grapes in three stages, and there is no doubt that the work undertaken by the estate will increasingly bear fruit.
