Jean-Marc Quarin January - 2004
Jean-Marc Quarin
Dark red color. Medium to good intensity. Slight evolution. Beautiful fruity and complex nose, but not far from greenness. The structure is round and even almost voluminous, but the taste is lacking. The tannicity is firm, still present but without exaggeration, and this wine finishes curiously woody. The effect of time on the taste has played its role, but there is no complexity.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
The 1983 Canon has reached full maturity. The wine's dark garnetruby color reveals some rustamber at the edge. The nose is forthcoming, with scents of leather, earth, spice, sweet plums and fruitcake. In the mouth, the wine possesses good richness, heady, alcoholic clout, low acidity, and rustic tannin in the finish.

A lovely, soft, polished, mature appearance; very sweet, somewhat rustic, chocolatey, fully evolved nose; lovely ripe tannins and crisp acidity, light style but good length.

Château Canon

Château Canon is a 34-hectare wine estate located in Saint-Emilion in the Gironde department. Classified as a Premier grand cru classé B in the Saint-Emilion classification, Château Canon was one of the first estates in the Bordeaux region where the vineyard held a primary place. Despite being a neighbor of Ausone and a 1er grand cru, the wine has never reached the level one might expect from it.

The acquisition of Château Canon in 1996 by the Chanel company has nevertheless given a second wind to this growth. Indeed, significant investments, particularly in the winery, have improved the quality of the wine. Château Canon is known for its meticulous selection of grapes in three stages, and there is no doubt that the work undertaken by the estate will increasingly bear fruit.
