Wine Enthusiast December - 2024
Wine Enthusiast
The non-vintage cuvée from this producer, based on the southern slopes of the Montagne de Reims, is beautifully judged. It is rich while also showing great freshness from citrus fruit flavors. With an aroma that brings out white fruits, the Champagne is ready to drink.

Falstaff November - 2019
Falstaff
Medium straw yellow. On the nose, fresh apple, blossom honey, a hint of white peach and subtle brown butter. On the palate, defined by a fine, lively effervescence and fresh acidity, a rounded body, a mineral impression and a soft, spicy finish.

Gilbert & Gaillard January - 2025
Gilbert & Gaillard
Beautiful golden robe. Ripe, well-developed fruity nose hovering between candied and dried fruit notes. On the palate, a rich, dense yet taut attack. A very harmonious, full-bodied cuvée with a pleasingly long finish. Perfect as an aperitif or at the table.

Andreas Larsson - Tasted
Bright straw colour with a gentle copper hue and delicate, yet vivid bubbles. Fine purity and restraint, rather pinot-dominated aromas of plum, raspberry, cherry with citrus, crushed nuts and some autolytic creamy pastry notes. Good grip and bite in a drier style, voluminous and well balanced with a fresh backbone, good ripeness of fruit yet in a discreet and elegant profile with fine purity, length and harmony.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
Comprising 44% wine from the 2021 vintage and 56% reserve wines held in perpetual reserve, Philipponnat’s NV Réserve Perpétuelle Brut—formerly known as Brut Royale Réserve—opens with an inviting bouquet of ripe peach, red berries, pear and pastry. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, broad-shouldered and textural, delivering a generous, enveloping style energized by racy acidity. While the base vintage is vinified primarily in stainless steel, the reserve wines are stored in oak, and the wine undergoes partial malolactic fermentation.

Jancis Robinson June - 2019
Jancis Robinson
Rather rich nose. Lots of direct attack and crunch. Good acidity and well blended not to be too aggressively tart. Though the dosage is a little obvious on the end. Not that long.

Philipponnat

Founded in Aÿ as early as 1522 and established in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, the house of Philipponnat produces vinous and precise Champagnes, dominated by Pinot Noir, from the Champagne appellation and Grand Cru classified terroirs. Its monopole Clos des Goisses, the first enclosed vineyard vinified separately in the region, encapsulates its spirit: terroir, structure and long ageing potential.

True to its perpetual reserve and measured dosage, the house crafts gastronomic cuvées that stand the test of time. Among its greatest years, 1996, the 2002 vintage, the 2008 wine, 2015 and the 2020 wine illustrate the balance between vinosity and freshness.
