Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
Violets, espresso, black and red plums, smoke, and dark red berries permeate the nose. On the palate, the wine quickly asserts its opulent character. The layers of exotically textured, silky, elegant, and refined fruits, with all their purity, linger for nearly 60 seconds. The wine combines 89% Syrah with 11% Viognier.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
The 2018 Cote Rotie La Mouline is immensely seductive, offering up enticing notes of floral potpourri and red berries on the nose. Those strawberries and raspberries persist onto the full-bodied palate and through the long, lush finish, buoyed by supple, creamy-textured tannins. A beefy red pierced by intriguing spice and dried incense notes, with heavy espresso, charred anise and warm cedar elements draped over flavors of red plum and chocolate ganache. Shows savory acidity that drives energy through the long, cigar box–tinged finish. Brawny and bold, with serious power and pedigree.

Cask sample. Very closed nose. Super-svelte texture, but seems to have a certain reluctance to show its full range at present. There's potential here, but only time will tell to what extent. The score anticipates the best-case scenario.

Domaine Guigal
Domaine Guigal

The Domaine E. Guigal stands as one of the absolute references of the Rhône Valley, both northern and southern. Founded in 1946 in Ampuis by Étienne Guigal, the family estate has built its reputation on an exacting interpretation of terroirs and a constant pursuit of excellence. Today led by Marcel and Philippe Guigal, the domaine embodies a heritage vision of great wine, recognized on an international scale.

Historically based in Ampuis, Maison Guigal vinifies and ages in its cellars all the great northern Rhône appellations, including Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Hermitage, Saint-Joseph and Crozes-Hermitage. This same site also ensures the aging of emblematic southern appellations such as Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, guaranteeing perfect mastery of aging and a coherent stylistic identity.

Closely associated with Côte-Rôtie, where it produces some of the most iconic cuvées of the Rhône, Domaine E. Guigal distinguishes itself with wines of remarkable depth and longevity. Vintages that have become references, such as Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Turque 1985, Guigal La Landonne 1990, Guigal La Landonne 1989, Guigal Hermitage Ex-Voto 2003, Guigal La Mouline 1999, Guigal La Landonne 1989, Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Mouline 2010, Guigal La Mouline 2018 testify to the qualitative consistency and exceptional aging potential of the estate.
