(12-2002) Lucid brick/ruby colour. Stunning ripe rounded nose: roasted herbs, gamey. Lovely plump palate akin to the Cos d'Estournel 1982. Superb balance - this caresses the palate with so much ripeness! Even better than the Firsts Growths. Classic Cos d'Estournel - an absolute gem.
(02-1998) It was really worth it for the bouquet was wonderfully fragrant, cedary, tea-like; sweet, delicious, easy and charming yet with a sustainning core.
(09-1997) Round and suave mouth, very melted, long and refined, with spices on the finish and a tannin that we suck.
(2012) The 1966 Cos d’Estournel exemplifies the vintage with great elegance. The nose smells of fresh fruit, making the wine seem much younger than its almost 50 years, and slightly floral. Beautiful and intoxicating. To the mouth the wine has a pure acidity that carries it for a long time. What it lacks in roundness it makes up for in concentration of acidity and length of trajectory. A specific style of Bordeaux that is difficult to find today. A real pleasure!
