Jean-Marc Quarin April - 1991
Jean-Marc Quarin
Ruby red color. Vermilion reflections. Evolved. Very bright. Medium intensity. Clean, intense nose. Of undergrowth, slightly animal beneath a fresher initial aspect. On swirling, clean, intense. Undergrowth. Somewhat simple. Clean and supple attack developing on a concentrated structure, of straight form, elegant and refined which evolves on remarkably balanced tannins towards a long powerful finish where aromas of very ripe fruits, blackcurrant, ink and incense, wood return, lasting very, very long. The first bottle was corked. Mr PRATS mentions that during "the carnation revolution" in Portugal, the main cork producer, the quality of corks had greatly diminished.

Château Cos D'Estournel
Château Cos D'Estournel

Château Cos d'Estournel is one of the most iconic estates of the Saint-Estèphe appellation, on the left bank of Bordeaux. Classified as Second Grand Cru Classé in 1855, it owes its singular identity to its location on the Cos hillside and to the bold vision of its founder, Louis-Gaspard d'Estournel, a prominent figure of the 19th century nicknamed the "Maharajah of Saint-Estèphe".

From its beginnings, Cos d'Estournel established itself through an international ambition rare for the time, exporting its wines as far as Asia. This openness to the world is still reflected today in the unique architecture of the château, inspired by the Far East, a true visual signature in the Médoc. The vineyard rests on terroir of deep gravel mixed with clay, benefiting from the proximity of the Gironde estuary, giving the wines structure, depth and complexity.
