Vinum Wine Magazine (10/2003) - Today I would add the 2007 mentioned above to the 2008, not quite as dense and powerful, but of absolutely stunning precision and finesse. Yquem in particular and Sauternes in general have produced wines of a quality and type that are unique in the world in recent years. 2007 is the preliminary high point. This wine should also be left to rest for a while, even if the Sauternes of recent years can be tasted practically from the first day of their life, similar to great champagnes. And yet they can mature forever and then develop the complexity that is characteristic of the great 1955, which I place before the legendary 1937 vintage. Happy who owns a bottle of it!

Château d'Yquem is an absolute reference for great sweet wines and occupies a unique place in the wine history of Bordeaux. Located in the heart of the Sauternes appellation, the estate benefits from exceptional terroir and microclimate that favor the development of botrytis cinerea. During the official classification of 1855, Château d'Yquem obtained an unparalleled status by being consecrated Premier Cru Supérieur, a unique distinction among the great classified growths.

The identity of Château d'Yquem is based on extreme rigor at every stage of production: very low yields, harvesting by successive selections and rigorous selection of grapes. Long owned by the Lur Saluces family, the estate has belonged since 1997 to the LVMH group, which has chosen to preserve the technical independence and historical rigor of the château.
