still quite deep bright red. nice classic old Medoc nose - redcurrant fruit, earthy-cedar, soft, quite long, ripe core of fruit. the finish is showing its age and getting vegetal now, so I guess the wine is on the decline, but still an enjoyable and complex bottle.

Château Boyd Cantenac
Château Boyd Cantenac

Château Boyd Cantenac is a wine estate in Bordeaux. Located in the commune of Cantenac in Gironde, the château produces its wines under the Margaux appellation (AOC). Jacques Boyd, Joséphine de Boyd, and La Croix de Boyd-Cantenac are the three second wines of Château Boyd Cantenac.

The grand vin of Boyd Cantenac (for recent vintages) is dark, dense, with a complex nose where fruit competes with tertiary aromas from aging in oak and bottle. On the palate, the attack is smooth and progressive, followed by a sensation of volume that fills and coats the mouth. In the finish, the well-present tannins guarantee an excellent aging potential.

The best vintages of Château Boyd Cantenac are the 1947 vintage, great wines of 1953, the 1961 vintage, and the classified growths of 1982. Finally, the 2000 vintage and the wines of 2005 are excellent.
