VInum Wine Magazine (11-2020) Is currently going through its defiance phase, but after extensive aeration already reveals the great aromatic complexity of herbs, flowers and ripe berries, trademarks of the younger Pontet-Canet. The start is direct and fresh, the development lean with great depth, the whole thing is very Burgundian thanks to the special fruitiness, the supporting structure and freshness. Great wine from an underestimated vintage.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
Deep garnet with a hint of purple to the color, the 2014 Pontet-Canet gives a very serious, classic Pauillac nose of blackcurrant preserves, baked blackberries and warm black plums with suggestions of menthol, pencil lead, woodsmoke, cassia and cast-iron pan plus a hint of baking spices. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the mouth with black and blue fruit preserves with a rock-solid frame of grainy tannins and bold freshness, giving lift to the long, exotic spice-laced finish. It is approachable now, but really should start to make jaws drop in another 4-5 years.

Jean-Marc Quarin September - 2021

Double decanted. Dark, intense and slightly evolved color. Very aromatic, fruity, ripe and subtle nose, developing more creamy on swirling. Meticulous on the palate entry, flavorful in the middle, subtle in its aromas, the wine evolves fresh, delicate and ultimately unspittable with its Médoc tannins, but melted. Beautiful aromatic length.

Château Pontet Canet
Château Pontet Canet

Château Pontet Canet is a Bordeaux wine estate. The 80-hectare vineyard is located in the heart of the Pauillac appellation, not far from Château Mouton Rothschild. Château Pontet Canet is classified as a Fifth Growth in the 1855 classification.

The wines of Pontet-Canet have always been part of the Médoc legend. Deep ruby, purple, sometimes black, Pontet-Canet wine develops a characteristic nose where black fruits, especially blackcurrant, licorice, prune, notes of figs, cedar and sometimes cocoa blend together. On tasting, the wine combines power and elegance, density and amplitude. With a muscular character, it imposes a serene idea of classicism with this tannic structure that reveals a long and peaceful aging potential. The men of Pontet-Canet continuously pursue the work undertaken more than three centuries ago, bringing, in each era, the most advanced techniques with an eternal concern to improve the quality of the wine while respecting and expressing the purest expression of the terroir.

The wine of Pontet-Canet, as well as the second wine, Les Hauts de Pontet-Canet, are exclusively sold by the wine merchants of Bordeaux.
