Grape variety/Blend: Cabernet Sauvignon (~65%), Merlot (~28%), Petit Verdot (~7%) (variations are possible from one vintage to another)

Jane Anson - Inside Bordeaux
Deep ruby red in colour at 22 years old. Tertiary notes on the palate, woodsmoke, ash, smoked earth. There are fruits here but they are gentle, the emphasis is on spice and smoke. Rosebud, jasmine, concentrated damson, absolutely ready to drink at this point, the tannins are still very present but they have a succulent and gentle feel. 50% new oak. Lowest percentage ever of overall production, 34% 1st wine, with an unusual blend for the time with high Cabernet Sauvignon, so a window into the kind of blend that they have today.

This is a muscular red, rippling with bramble-edged tannins that push the dense core of blackberry, fig and boysenberry fruit paste flavors along. Juicy star anise notes and a swath of well-roasted apple wood add even more range on the finish, which is seriously long. Just ever so slightly woodsy in the end, but a terrific showing.

Jean-Marc Quarin June - 2019

Dark color, intense and slightly evolved. Nose of medium intensity, fruity and fine. Coffee nuances. Beginning of an aging bouquet. Very similar to the 2001. Delicate entry on the palate, but also smooth. The wine develops very fruity in the middle. It evolves with good body, flavorful, with a slightly apparent tannic structure in the persistence. Normal length. Charming profile.

Gorgeous, animal, bloody perfumed streak against fine black fruit. Lovely quality in the mouth too, with puckering tannins at present, and a dense, serious quality of black fruit. This is a big, broad-shouldered wine, with deep, sinewy quality and a savoury depth. Very good indeed.

Earthy, with blackberries and tobacco in the nose. This medium bodied wine has a distinct green pepper note that is off putting. There is some rusticity to the tannins in the finish. Previous bottles have been better.

Mid crimson. Attractive scent and development on the nose. Well balanced and well judged – neat – even if not a blockbuster. Quite introvert but confident with great balance. No hurry to drink.

. (76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot) Open nose, some stable, earth, plum; matured palate, melted tannin, top acidity, long on the finish, slightly bitter finale. Classic Bordeaux with a touch of rusticity, which I personally like very much, drink until 2030

Château Lagrange
Château Lagrange

Château Lagrange, a Grand Cru Classé in 1855 located in the western part of the Saint-Julien appellation in the heart of the Médoc wine region. The Château produces 3 wines. The blending of the red wines, which both benefit from the Saint-Julien appellation, leads to the differentiation between the Grand Vin "CHATEAU LAGRANGE", generally produced from old vines with an average age of over 30 years, and the Second Wine "LES FIEFS DE LAGRANGE", which comes from younger vines. The dry white wine with Bordeaux appellation "LES ARUMS DE LAGRANGE" is one of the estate's curiosities. Its production is very limited and represents no more than three percent of the total production.
