Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
Youthfull, deep, concentrated, fresh, broad-shouldered, dark and packed with smoldering black and red fruits, the wine fills your palate. Powerful and refined is not something you see often, but it is here in spades. Juicy, dynamic, complex, long and holding on to its last vestiges of youth, before hitting full maturity, this is stunning in every sense of the word.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
Another sensational wine is the 1989 Cote Rotie la Landonne. Served right next to the '99 and just as deep ruby in color, it offered a classic array of truffle, underbrush, licorice, smoked meats, black olive and sweet dark fruits. Deep, concentrated, ultra-pure and with building tannin, it's a killer, fully mature Cote Rotie that will continue to knock your socks off over the coming decade or more.

Dark crimson. Heady and rich. Scented, floral and rather Petrus-like. Sweet and suave. Gloriously hedonistic.

Rich and aromatic. The ripe plum, chocolate, toast and spice flavors are concentrated and harmonious; the firm tannins promise long life. Hard now, it should begin to open in 1999.

An animal, truffled, and barely fruity nose that seems to be running out of steam. A smooth, melted, and flavorful palate with an average taste. The texture drops off in the finish.

Domaine Guigal
Domaine Guigal

The Domaine E. Guigal stands as one of the absolute references of the Rhône Valley, both northern and southern. Founded in 1946 in Ampuis by Étienne Guigal, the family estate has built its reputation on an exacting interpretation of terroirs and a constant pursuit of excellence. Today led by Marcel and Philippe Guigal, the domaine embodies a heritage vision of great wine, recognized on an international scale.

Historically based in Ampuis, Maison Guigal vinifies and ages in its cellars all the great northern Rhône appellations, including Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Hermitage, Saint-Joseph and Crozes-Hermitage. This same site also ensures the aging of emblematic southern appellations such as Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, guaranteeing perfect mastery of aging and a coherent stylistic identity.

Closely associated with Côte-Rôtie, where it produces some of the most iconic cuvées of the Rhône, Domaine E. Guigal distinguishes itself with wines of remarkable depth and longevity. Vintages that have become references, such as Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Turque 1985, Guigal La Landonne 1990, Guigal La Landonne 1989, Guigal Hermitage Ex-Voto 2003, Guigal La Mouline 1999, Guigal La Landonne 1989, Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Mouline 2010, Guigal La Mouline 2018 testify to the qualitative consistency and exceptional aging potential of the estate.
