Wine Spectator March - 2003
Wine Spectator
Very dark and concentrated, with intense aromas of tobacco, coffee and blackberries. Full-bodied, with big, velvety tannins and a long finish of licorice, berry and currants. Giscours is doing something special. Best ever from here.

Jean-Marc Quarin January - 2021
Jean-Marc Quarin
Dark red color, intense and slightly evolved. Moderately aromatic nose, but nevertheless quite complex, with nuances of ripe fruit, pine wood, resin and a creamy touch. Full on the attack, juicy in the mid-palate, the wine develops very complete. Flavorsome, with a beautiful texture, it gains taste in the finish before ending long, very good and above all without austerity, which was my concern. Blend: 55% cabernet sauvignon, 40% merlot, 5% cabernet franc.

Jeannie Cho Lee June - 2015

Ripe, plummy and filled with dark berries and spices. The palate offers firm, ripe tannins and an intensity that is quite surprising. A big, full-bodied wine that is still youthful now. Should age/evolve well over the next decade.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
Probably the finest Giscours made since the 1975, this blackpurple-colored 2000 offers up terrific notes of camphor, creosote, blackberry, and cassis jam intermixed with notions of smoke and earth. Spicy, with low acidity, a big, rich, fleshy, full-bodied palate, outstanding texture, and a long, pure finish, it is, to reiterate, one of the best Giscours produced over the last 25 years. A sleeper of the vintage, it is still available for a realistic price.

Falstaff November - 2010
Falstaff
Medium ruby garnet, delicate ochre rim. Smoky, candied oranges, strong roasted aromas, spicy nuances, multi-faceted. Juicy, complex, roasted aromas again, powerful, mineral and long-lasting, not yet fully developed, extract-sweet, great potential for the future.

Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
Elegant, refined, medium bodied and silky, with a nose of flowers, cherries, truffle and leaf. This is a very pretty wine, that is just about fully developed. The wine should remain at this level for at least 15 years, or even longer.

Wine Enthusiast October - 2003
Wine Enthusiast
This is a big, powerful, firm wine, with a top layer of ripe, glamorous fruit flavors. Blackcurrant jelly fruits are shot through with ripe acidity and soft tannins. It should develop relatively fast, but then last well.

Jancis Robinson March - 2010

Dark ruby. Fragrant and full bodied and flattering. Solid with some lead pencil character. A big beefy mouthful but definitively left bank. This may well be good value and provide lots of solid preasure but it will never be subtle. . .

Jane Anson - Inside Bordeaux
Still a little angular in its tannic structure but softens to show cassis and bilberry, tobacco and black chocoate, smoked earth. There is a gourmet attraction here, with a rich and creamy texture through the mid palate once it opens, and it feels at a great moment to drink.

La Revue du Vin de France January - 2007
La Revue du Vin de France
RVF Magazine This Margaux has a beautiful density on the attack. It's a spherical wine, a little warm on the finish. We perceive a great maturity of fruit and a beautiful elegance, with structure.

Château Giscours
Château Giscours

Château Giscours is a Bordeaux wine estate located in Labarde in Gironde. Château Giscours produces wines under the AOC Margaux appellation. It is ranked among the Third Growth (Grand Cru Classé) in the official 1855 Bordeaux wine classification, and is one of the most important estates in the Médoc. The vineyard spans nearly 86 hectares within a 300-hectare property. Giscours thus continues the legacy of generations of winemakers, making this estate a world-renowned Grand Cru.

Note the existence of an impeccable second wine: La Sirène de Giscours.

The best vintages of Giscours are the 1945 wines, the 1961, 1982, and 1989 vintages which are excellent. Finally, the 1990 vintage, the 2000 and 2009 grand crus, as well as the 2015 vintage are among the Château's greatest achievements.
