To be specific, 86 points for the quality of the vintage (it is only the 'doux' version) and 92 points for the superb balance, the refined fragility and the lovely golden colour, a charming whiff of wax and honey. You keep sipping this lovely wine (level base of neck); a perfect combination with cheese (not too salty).

Château Gilette

Château Gilette is a Bordeaux wine estate. A 4.5-hectare property located in the heart of the village of Preignac. Château Gilette is a small Sauternes cru legendary for its old vintages. In the Sauternes appellation, it exclusively produces sweet white wines described as being the fruitiest in the Sauternes region. The grape varieties harvested there are Sémillon (90%), Sauvignon blanc (8%) and Muscadelle (2%). The harvest is done manually and the vines are approximately 40 years old.

The best vintages of Château Gilette are 1929, the 1959 vintage, the 1967 wines, 1987 crus and the 1989 vintage. Finally, the 1990 vintage is particularly excellent.
