(4-2010) In magnum. Fabulous length. Very, very rich - sweeter than the 1961. Perhaps there is less Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend here than in later wines because in 1953 he replaced Malbec with Cabernet Sauvignon. Incredibly rich! With a kick at the end. More obviously Figeac than the 1961. Really gorgeous.

(1-1998) The 1959 has not been retasted since the last edition of this book, but I suspect well-stored bottles would still be impressive. It was a powerful, rich, roasted Figeac that typified the torrid weather conditions of the 1959 growing season.

Château Figeac
Château Figeac

Château Figeac is a Bordeaux wine estate located in the commune of Saint Emilion. Premier Grand Cru Classé of the official Saint-Emilion classification, it is one of the most influential châteaux of the appellation. The Château also produces a second wine: La Grange Neuve de Figeac.

Château Figeac wines have excellent aging potential.

The finest achievements are the 1961 vintage, 1982, the 1985 wines, grand crus from 1986. More recent Château Figeac vintages show more power, roundness and fruity notes, the 2000 vintage, the 2005 wines and 2009 are spectacular.
