Expert's opinions
Information on the vintage 1989 red Bordeaux : 5/5 Unquestionably a great vintage and one which brought the decade to a resounding close. Lots of exceptional wines.

Pale bright garnet. The colour suggested much younger wine. Litle shy to start with bright red fruit on the nose and palate, good intensity of flavour and fine dusty tannin on the back palate. Took about half hour to pull itself together and it was worth the wait. The nose became much more forward, intense with red fruit, smoke and cedar. The palate intensified and completely absorbed the tannins. Long smooth finish. This one is at its peak.

Deep crimson hue. A lovely regal Pauillac nose: cedar, pine with that Merlot lending it a ripe cherry/blackberry fruitiness. The palate is not complex but very harmonious and well-balanced. Quite tannic at first but becomes supple with aeration, quite mellow. Raspberry, black truffle and burnt toast. Smooth satiny finish with a dark chocolate aftertaste.

Aromas of blackberry, cherry and wood. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a ripe fruit aftertaste. Needs time to mellow and open. Big and rich for Duhart.

Medium-bodied, crisp, bright, leafy red berries with a leafy, herb, pepper, and tobacco edge to the fruits. This is fading and needs to be consumed.

Château informationss
Duhart Milon Rothschild
The great wine of Chateau Duhart-Milon is often described as a classical model of pure Pauillac appellation, it presents a "distinction aside finesse". The appreciation of the broker Abraham Lawton, 1815 "... it comes with great firmness, color and good sap quite pronounced," is an illustration of the continuing nature of Chateau Duhart-Milon (the "sap" of the first growths of the Medoc is beautifully defined as "something of the burning smell that pours the best sealing wax").
