Rollercoaster wine. Came out of the gate needing to blow off badly, but then did quickly. Was absolutely wonderful with lamb rib chops, from about the 30-60 minute window but then fell off a lot and showed some maderization. Probably not a perfect bottle but hit a high of 94 during that time.

Gorgeous, firm wine. Good dark ruby color. Lovely berry, cherry, currant aromas. Full-bodied, with firm, well-integrated tannins and a long finish. Needs time.

Dark red color. Purple. Violet and beautiful. Nose of medium intensity. Discreet. Licorice and smoky note. Very nice voluminous attack developing on an ample and round structure, caressing and fruity. Very well-balanced evolution on pulpy and very licorice tannins with the flavor of zan licorice with violet on a structure that lingers at the finish. Flavorful finish.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
The 1990 has turned out better than I expected. It offers a classic Lafite perfume of graphite/lead pencil shavings interwoven with red and black currants, fresh porcini mushrooms, smoke, and tobacco leaf. Medium to full-bodied, soft, and elegant, it is not as concentrated as the 1982, but is a luscious, round Pauillac to enjoy over the next 5-10 years.

The grand vin of Château Duhart-Milon is often described as a refined classic model of the Pauillac appellation, presenting a "reserved distinction with finesse". The assessment by broker Abraham Lawton, as early as 1815, "...it presents itself with much firmness, good color and pronounced sap", is an illustration of the enduring character of Château Duhart-Milon (the "sap" of the Médoc first growths is beautifully defined as "something of the odor that the best sealing wax gives off when burning").
