Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
Medium brick in color with a touch of brown, the 1986 Ducru-Beaucaillou reveals growing notes of dried mulberries, kirsch and raisin cake with nuances of celery salt, dried bay leaves, truffles and charcuterie plus hints of old leather sofa and fallen leaves. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has quite a powerful structure with firm, chewy tannins and bold freshness supporting the muscular, dried berries flavors, finishing long with a dried mint kick.

A gorgeous Ducru-Beaucaillou at its peak. Love the bottled aged flavours of violets, mushrooms, leather and dark spices. Tannins are silky and the flavours subtle yet persistent. Beautiful wine.

Falstaff February - 2011
Falstaff
Strong carmine garnet, broad ochre rim, orange reflections. On the nose, spicy (PCP) underlaid sweet berry fruit, dark fruit, sweet touch, powerful and attractive, delicately honeyed and candied orange zest. Juicy, balanced, freshly structured, medium body, cherries on the finish, lively and inviting to drink, the tannins only become noticeable on the aftertaste, versatile food companion.

Château Ducru Beaucaillou
Château Ducru Beaucaillou

Château Ducru-Beaucaillou is one of the most illustrious estates of the Saint-Julien appellation, classified Second Grand Cru Classé in 1855. Located on deep gravel overlooking the Gironde estuary, Château Ducru-Beaucaillou owes its name to the "beautiful pebbles," those characteristic quartz stones that ensure perfect drainage and ideal thermal retention, essential conditions for the maturity of Cabernet Sauvignon.

Founded in the 18th century and acquired by the Borie family in 1941, the estate is now managed by Bruno-Eugène Borie, who has profoundly strengthened the stylistic identity of the cru. Château Ducru-Beaucaillou has established itself as one of the most refined signatures of Saint-Julien, sought after for the precision of its aging, the exceptional quality of its fruit, and the nobility of its tannins.

The vineyard sits on Günzian gravel ridges among the finest in the Médoc. Dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon and complemented by Merlot, the blend produces wines of great depth, combining density, freshness, and structure. The aging in French oak barrels, perfectly mastered, supports the structure without masking the expression of the terroir.

Vintages such as Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 1982, Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 1995, Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 1996, Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 2005, Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 2003 or Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 2014 illustrate the consistency and exceptional aging potential of the estate, now considered a major reference among the great collectible wines of Bordeaux.
