Jane Anson - Inside Bordeaux
Here we see the potential of 2014 in the right hands, and this stands out from its neighbours in northern Médoc, one to note down and look out for. Silky tannins, a ton of cocoa bean, bitter chocolate and espresso, blueberry and cassis fruits, along with turmeric, liqourice and clove spice. Perfectly-pitched acidity that softens into capuccinno creaminess though the mid palate followed by a juicy signoff. Slow build, just delicious. 100% new oak.

This powerful wine has a superb mix of the crispest fruit and great structure. Blackberries and black currants shine through the tannins, expressing the liveliness of the vintage. It is so well delineated with everything in its place. The wine is certainly going to age for decades. Drink from 2027

Falstaff April - 2015

Primary fruit, almost with still fermenting candy notes, but also very floral. Powerful palate, oily background, fleshy tannin in high quantity, which exerts intense pressure, but is integrated through the viscosity and intense minerality. Noticeably strong alcohol, subtle acidity. 90 percent Cabernet Sauvignon.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
Very deep garnet in color, the 2014 Ducru-Beaucaillou springs from the glass, offering vibrant notions of fresh black currants, black cherries and black raspberries with touches of spice box, licorice and fragrant soil plus a waft of lavender. Medium-bodied, the palate bursts with lively, crunchy black fruits, supported by ripe, grainy tannins and finishing on a lingering spicy note.

This is opulent, with layers of warmed fig, boysenberry and blackberry jam that loll along, yet are kept going by a graphite note that is well-buried throughout. Alluring black tea, singed mesquite and bittersweet cocoa accents add to the panache. A head-turner.

Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
Deep, dark ruby with purple in its hue, this wine is brimming with smoke, espresso, blackberry, black cherry, licorice, earth, a whole spice box of aromatics and that’s just the foreplay. The lush velour textured tannins, layers of dark berry liqueur and the lasting sensation of fresh, perfectly ripened fruit elevates this wine to the next level. This is the best wine of the appellation and once again, one of the top wines in the vintage.

Garnet with black core. Sweet, ripe blackcurrants. Just a touch charry with a contrast of oak sweetness. Firm, deliciously dry and refined in its tannins. Fresh, harmonious and long and, I estimate, a long life ahead.

Château Ducru Beaucaillou
Château Ducru Beaucaillou

Château Ducru-Beaucaillou is one of the most illustrious estates of the Saint-Julien appellation, classified Second Grand Cru Classé in 1855. Located on deep gravel overlooking the Gironde estuary, Château Ducru-Beaucaillou owes its name to the "beautiful pebbles," those characteristic quartz stones that ensure perfect drainage and ideal thermal retention, essential conditions for the maturity of Cabernet Sauvignon.

Founded in the 18th century and acquired by the Borie family in 1941, the estate is now managed by Bruno-Eugène Borie, who has profoundly strengthened the stylistic identity of the cru. Château Ducru-Beaucaillou has established itself as one of the most refined signatures of Saint-Julien, sought after for the precision of its aging, the exceptional quality of its fruit, and the nobility of its tannins.

The vineyard sits on Günzian gravel ridges among the finest in the Médoc. Dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon and complemented by Merlot, the blend produces wines of great depth, combining density, freshness, and structure. The aging in French oak barrels, perfectly mastered, supports the structure without masking the expression of the terroir.

Vintages such as Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 1982, Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 1995, Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 1996, Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 2005, Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 2003 or Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 2014 illustrate the consistency and exceptional aging potential of the estate, now considered a major reference among the great collectible wines of Bordeaux.
