Expert's opinions
Much better than my previous tasting, ago, now you find a round, concentrated, blackberry, black currant, and black cherry-filled wine with nuances of green, leafy herbs, forest floor, tobacco leaf, and spice box notes in the finish. Drink from 2022-2040.

Shows blackberry, treacle tart and licorice aromas. Full-bodied, with wonderful vanilla, berry and milk chocolate character, followed by a long finish. Needs time to develop.

Double Decanted three hours before drinking. Still opened up over the course of the evening. Tasted as part of a 2005 horizontal with Cos D’estournel and Montrose. This Margaux was lovely - lots of life left in it, so no rush to drink. But it opened up nicely. Smooth and elegant, yet “bigger” than I would have expected. Paired beautifully with the grilled steaks and roasted eggplant.

Slightly less fragrant and open, but also has very nice fruit. Elegant cherry and cool red fruits on the palate, with tannins a touch on the dry and inky side.

This is a fine, harmonious wine, but it lacks intensity. The dusty tannins, the sweet berry fruits and the fresh acidity are all here; just the passion is missing.

Tasted blind. Tight and focused on the nose. Youthful with marked tannins. Not yet ready. But it should all fall into place.

Château informations
Since 2006, a sustainable farming policy has been implemented throughout the vineyard. Cantenac Brown wines are produced on stony lands in the southern part of the village, on typical Médoc gravel soil. The average age of Cantenac Brown vines is 35 years, with a planting density of 8,500 to 10,000 vines per hectare, and a yield of 45 hectoliters per hectare. The grape variety composition of Cantenac Brown consists of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 5% Cabernet Franc, which produce wines with an intense bouquet, suitable for aging.
