Wine Spectator November - 1998
Wine Spectator
A very dark-colored and youthful red, with floral and ripe fruit aromas and hints of earth. Full-bodied and very chewy, yet fruity and sweet, with well-integrated tannins and a lovely finish.

Château Beau Séjour Bécot
Beau-Séjour Bécot is located in the heart of the Saint-Emilion appellation. 1st Grand Cru Classé B of Saint Emilion Owner: Gérard and Dominique Bécot Director: Gérard and Dominique Bécot Oenologist: Michel Rolland, Jean-Philippe Fort 1st Grand Cru Classé B. Beautifully situated on the limestone plateau, Beau-Séjour Bécot is one of the eleven Premier Grand Cru Classé B of Saint Emilion. In 1986, a year after Michel Bécot's retirement, it had been downgraded to Grand Cru Classé, which caused quite a stir at the time. However, the energy of his two sons, Gérard and Dominique, allowed the estate to regain its rank in 1996. The Beau-Séjour Bécot team oversees two neighboring properties, Château Grand Pontet, managed by their younger sister Sylvie Pourquet, and La Gomerie, an opulent 100% Merlot sold at a premium price. Beau-Séjour Bécot represents the essence of a great hillside wine, concentrated, solid, and lively. It gains dazzling complexity with age.
